Since no one has tackled the chess problem yet, here’s my proposed solution.
White to move and mate in 4:
1. Qf6!
This presents an immediate threat of mate the next move, which Black can only delay, but not prevent, by responding with, e.g., Bxf2+. And if he instead plays QxQ, then White mates with 2. Rc8++. The only defense I see that Black can make in response is 1. . . . Qf8. But then follow these forcing moves:
2. Qg7+ QxQ
3. Rc8+ Qf8
4. RxQ++
