Wonderful problem, Fr. Z! The solution comes only after logically reasoning out all the possible first moves, since Black is in Zugzwang and White has to be careful not to force a draw, or to free the Bishop from its pin and stretch out the mate to 3 or more moves. What it boils down to is this:
1. Rh1! PxR=Q+ (forced — Black has no other move)
2. QxQ mate
Hmm. The threat of stalemate limits White’s options. The best I can find is a mate in four: 1. Qh7 threatens mate on b7, forcing Black to postpone the inevitable with a couple of checks:
1. Qh7 Bh2+
2. Kxh2 g1=Q+
3. Kxg1 Kb8
4. Qb7#
