I think for a while I will be following the day by day developments of the American Civil War via the Civil War Daily Gazette.
150 year after the fact, this site has a blog/magazine format and covers the events of the war.
Retro-new media.

“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

My friends down South would say “Y’all are calling it by the wrong name. It’s the War of Northern Aggression and is still going on!”
I learned it as the “War Between the States” in grammar school (Charlotte County, VA) during the centennial in the 60′s. Wasn’t until we moved north of Mason-Dixon in 66 that I heard it referred to as the “Civil War”.
There were folks, in town (Keysville, VA), whose grandfathers fought. They do take pride in that heritage, if not the reason for the “Late Unpleasantness” necessarily.
(full disclosure: I am a reenactor…)
Oh, that modern civil war.
I thought you meant this one:
