“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

Barack Obama plays Florence Jean Castleberry.
Michael Ramirez, one of my favorite cartoonists,
Fr may I recommend another up and coming cartoonist, and a catholic oriented one at that,
Sword of Peter, by Jeff B Harris, wonderful, you will appreciate him

specifically this one, everyone enjoy

The Egyptian,
Harris is good! He’s got fluent line, a good sense of proportion, and a gift of capturing a likeness.
Bookmarked!
(I have always liked Ramirez too. Very dense and frantic drawing, but what a wit!)
I think this issue may be contrived, to give Obama the stage to play both sides. He first shows the Left that he is bold in supporting the liberal agenda, yet has time to take lead on rescinding the HHS Mandate in the name of “religous freedom”. He still has time to give a big, slimey speech about freedom of religion, and make his plea for the Catholic vote yet again. After this happens, I pray the Bishops do not soften toward him. I think Catholics, our Bishops, should advocate repeal of the entire Obamacare law, if for no other reason than to prevent the seeds of socialism, the pernicious weed this law is sewing in our Nation, from taking root.
Ours was along the same lines! Here is the one from my paper this morning: http://www.bokbluster.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/120203boklores.jpg
The Bishops have asked us to fast and pray on Fridays. At my house we are making first attempts at the former. Clarity ensued.
Excellent political cartoons.
someone needs to ask the President:
Quousque tandem abutere patientia nostra?
He would wear a stole over a chasuble! Intentionally and just because it is wrong.
On a lighter note — The late Jerry Malloy was a long-time coach at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. He was an excellent, funny after dinner speaker and said this on one occasion when referring to the annual budget battle with his athletic director: “Father, I will be so glad when you are elevated to Bishop; then I will only have to kiss your ring!!!”
Seriously, to all progressive readers here, if Pres. Obama will do it for you, he can also do it to you.
The Egyptian-I went over to Jeff Harris’ ‘Sword of Peter’ site. Fantastic cartoons! Thanks for posting his link!
And these cartoons here are great, too….albeit rather scary!
Ramirez is one of my favorite cartoonists. I have posted this picture everywhere I could. Harris looks like a good cartoonist as well.
