New bishop in Toowoomba

Some of you will recall the trouble caused in the Diocese of Toowoomba by the local bishop, a strange and uncooperative fellow, removed from office by the Holy Father. Today I read that a new bishop for the diocese was announced: Msgr. Robert McGuckin from the Diocese of Parramatta (next to Sydney).

Pray for Bishop-Elect McGuckin, who, like Hercules, faces a stable of problems.

“Stable of problems”! Hahaha! Yes, I suppose he does. Awhile back I was following this whole mess with the Bishop of Toowoomba…and saw that there was some incredible opposition to his removal amongst some of the priests. I hope Bishop-Elect McGuckin gets the place cleaned up!

That’s good news from the trench/battlefield.

In the meanwhile, not-so-good news (IMHO) at command: Donald Cardinal Wuerl of Washington has been appointed to be a member of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF).

I thought it was enough that Cardinal Schonborn of Vienna, Austria is a CDF member, but now Cardinal Wuerl in addition to that???

I wonder how on earth those cardinals ended up being appointed to that congregation.

“A stable of problems” – LOL.

I hope the Bishop-Elect gets to trade in his liturgical Beretta for an episcopal M249 SAW ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8sa8QFNEGI )

(fast forward to 4:39 to see the best action, btw)

@oldcanon2257: perhaps the Holy Father quitely hopes that said cardinals will learn a thing or two over there, such as how to properly deal with pseudo-catholic dissent?
[I offer this in all seriousness by the way, it would fit BXVI’s style]

Was it just a coincidence that the announcement was made on the Feast of St. Matthias? “And his bishopric let another take.” (Acts 1:20 quoting Psalm 108(9):8 Rheims New Testament version)
