VP Biden and the Sisters share cookies and ice-cream. No, I am not making this up.

You can’t make up this sort of thing.

This is also in secular papers (because they are organs of the Obama campaign) but I found this on Life News.

Biden brings cookies and ice cream to LCWR president’s motherhouse
BY KATHLEEN GILBERT

DUBUQUE, Iowa, July 3, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Vice President Joe Biden [who is PRO-abortion] made a quiet visit [so quiet that there is a photo and we are reading about it now] to the religious sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque last week, the motherhouse of the current president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR).  [Coincidence?  I think not.]

David Gibson of the Religion News Service wrote that about 150 people were present at the event, and noted that the Dubuque location is the motherhouse of LCWR president Sr. Patricia Farrell, OSF. A recent newsletter also lists Farrell as one of the vice presidents of the Dubuque house. It wasn’t clear whether Farrell was present for Biden’s visit.

“The Vice-President got to know the sisters through an old friend in Dubuque, during a previous trip to the city,” said a campaign official, according to RNS. “This was nothing more than a private, casual reunion of friends of faith over ice cream and cookies.”  [Blech.  Just shoot me now.]

Biden’s Twitter account confirmed the visit, saying the vice president went to “catch up” with the sisters during a campaign stop in the battleground state. A photograph of Biden greeting one sister was tweeted from the account. [But it was just a quiet visit.]

LCWR, a large umbrella group of religious sisters [NO.  It is a group of the leaders of communities of sisters.] well known as a lobby for liberal social causes, made headlines in 2010 as one of the most high-profile Catholic groups supporting the federal health care legislation, joining the Catholic Health Association.

Although an association of conservative sisters shot back at the time with their own statement opposing the reform effort, in union with U.S. bishops, at least one Catholic Democrat in the House cited “the [Magisterium of] nuns” as the reason for deciding to support the bill, according to a source on the Hill.  [Sr. Keehan… GIVE BACK THAT PEN!]

President Obama later appointed Sr. Marlene Weisenbeck, who headed LCWR during the health care push, as the only Catholic on his Council for Faith-Based Partnerships in 2011.

More recently, LCWR expressed outrage after it was sanctioned by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith this year, following an investigation into its liberal advocacy.

The Vatican’s doctrinal assessment cited evidence that, despite LCWR’s promotion of legitimate social justice in certain areas, the group’s agenda “is silent on the right to life from conception to natural death” and does not include “the church’s biblical view of family life and human sexuality … in a way that promotes church teaching.”  [In other words they are useful idiots in the eyes of the Obama Administration.]

The bus and the sisters were covered on the Headline News Channel.

I don’t know why Pilosi is not on the bus also.

It would appear that the Lord Jesus has withdrawn grace from select PARTS of the Church Militant. “Non Serviam” isn’t just for fallen angels…. Prayer is needed as we witness the fulfillment of the vision of Pope Leo XIII.

  3. majuscule says:

Is that one of their nuns clasping hands with that man (is that what Joe Biden looks like? I will remember for when I am EMHC) in the picture?

I wasn’t certain because she appears to be wearing some sort of head covering!

Would that they were fools for Christ instead of fools for Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Cecille Richards and Katleen Sebelius (of HHS Mandate fame – infamy.)

Sure, photographers always follow one around on private visits….

I’m sure her stop will come up any day now…

    More like doctrinal errors . . . .

I find it very interesting and ironic that whenever there is an opportunity for communities like this one to get press, they always manage to get a photo with a sister wearing a veil!

  10. Suburbanbanshee says:

This is pretty typical. The sisters who are the Sixties Generation wear “normal clothes.” The sisters who served someplace more traditional or outside the US wear some kind of modified veil or wimple. The sisters who are really elderly are back in the nursing home wing, wearing as full a habit as their sisters allow them, and trying to maintain real community life.

It’s possible that the wimpled nun is a relative or an old teacher or something.

Hopefully, they will ALL burn in Hell together.

    Nice sentiment, tealady.

tealady24: Why would you hope that anybody would burn in hell? That is not Christian.

tealady24: I understand your anger and frustration, but let us pray for their conversion.

RCP metapoll has Barack at +2.6 . . . don’t see any way that this neighborly visit to the sisters is going to hurt that. Granted there are four months to go and anything can happen either way.

Moving TFR through Ohio and and Penna tomorrow and Friday. Must be a bus trip.

I agree AnnA. It is another version of what the Nationalist Socialist Party did in Germany pre WWII.
That did not turn out well. The healthcare mandate is just the beginning.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

It just keeps going on and on… Have you seen the video of 75 Democrats in Congress saying “thank you” to the Nuns on the Bus???? Creative Minority Report posted it last night. It was made by NETWORK, I am guessing at a reception or something after they ended their bus tour.

I wrote an analysis of Nuns on the Bus for Catholic Exchange and the video bears out my conclusions: That NETWORK is all about (and only about) being defiant, and if people use them as a stick to hit the Church with, that’s fine with them. Although, if this video had come out first, I would have said “hammer” rather than “stick.” There is no need, ever, for religious orders to align themselves with political parties to the point that they will allow themselves to be a tool for that party. Please read it and tell me what you think…
