How liberals see the world: If you are pro-life you are now a racist.

If you are a liberal these days, you are losing most arguments that are based in facts. Liberals therefore are resorting to the ad hominem attack, which involves attacking the people they oppose instead of their positions.

For example, I say “2+2=4”, to which a liberal responds “No, 2+2=5”. I demonstrate by handing her 2 $2 bills that 2+2=4 and ask her to explain how she can buy a $5 coffee at homosexual supporting Starbucks with just $4. She then explains “Shut up!”.  I then walk with her into the Starbucks and ask her to buy herself the $5 coffee with the the gift of my $4 dollars.  The Starbucks droid, a free-market capitalist, declines the opportunity to let our liberal buy her coffee at a discount.  After our liberal has a little nutty, she turns to me as says, “You are a poopy-head.”, thus crushing me in the iron jaws of her logic and winning the argument.  MSNBC has a party.

A similar thing on a larger, and far more vicious scale, happens when conservatives make a pro-life argument. Liberals resort to the ad hominem and call us racists.

Here is a great example I picked up from LifeNews:

Liberal writer: Saving minority babies is racist
BY BEN JOHNSON

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 4, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – The pro-life movement’s desire to save children of any race is a secret manifestation of racism and constitutes a war on “minorities and the poor,” according to a writer for The Atlantic.

Brian Fung, who serves as the prestigious magazine’s associate editor, made that claim in an article entitled “The Quiet Racism of Abortion Bans.”

Fung wrote the Republican “war on women” is “really an attack on women of a specific stripe: those from disadvantaged minorities and the poor.”

“An abortion ban would disproportionately affect women from non-white and low-income backgrounds,” he wrote, proving the pro-life movement’s “inherent racial and socio-economic unfairness.”

[…]

See how easy that was?

If you are pro-life, you are a racist.

You don’t want to be a racist do you?

How long have you been a racist!?

Therefore, we should all support abortion on demand and also give tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, which was started in order to wipe out black people.

Pro-lifers are racist.

Shut up.

So, it is the racist that opposes killing minority children in the womb, and it is the liberal defender of minorities and the poor, who wishes to escalate their murders. Makes sense, in the same way that the Catholic faith requires these people to support abortion, and same-sex marriage, and in the same way that if you opposed the holocaust you really are an anti-semite.

It’s difficult to reason with these people, its going to take a long time.

  2. letchitsa1 says:

Hmm…So a pro-abort freely admits that an abortion ban would disproportionately affect the poor and women of color. Sounds to me like a pretty clear admission that they target the children of the poor and women of color for whole-sale slaughter.

Remind me again who’s the racist???

I was having trouble following the logic of the argument, until the “shut up” part.

  4. jim123 says:

LOL. It’s the same ‘logic’ that says: “Abraham Lincoln was a racist, because he disproportionately freed black people.”

  5. Supertradmum says:

    Facts time:

Blacks form less than 11% of the population but account for over 37% of the abortions. “While white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely.”
    http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html

“70 percent of Planned Parenthood clinics are in black and Hispanic neighborhoods”http://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/users/rauch/nvp/consistent/american-spectator_court.html

“37% of abortions occur with black women, 34% with non-Hispanic white women, 22% to Hispanic women and 8% to women of other races.”http://www.womenscenter.com/abortion_stats.html

Over 50% of the abortions in New York are from black women. http://www.wnyc.org/articles/wnyc-news/2011/mar/14/rate-abortion-sparks-debate-black-community/

“Each year, almost a half a million black babies are lost to abortion. The Life Education and Resource Network (LEARN), the largest African-American pro-life group in the country has produced a chart which shows that from 1973-2001, abortion has claimed more than two and a half times as many African-American lives as the next five leading causes combined. In 2005, a total of 292,808 blacks died in the U.S. That same year, almost twice as many blacks (roughly 447,700) were killed by abortion. In 2004, the black population in the U.S. stood at 36 million. Between 1973 and 2004, roughly 15 million blacks were aborted, which means that, as of 2004, nearly 30% of the black population has been lost to abortion! And that doesn’t even factor in all the children that would have been born to those aborted a generation ago. Population estimates show that blacks will soon lose their status as the nation’s largest minority group. To put it bluntly, abortion has thinned the black community in ways the Ku Klux Klan could have only dreamed of.”

    Amenamen,

    The logic is really:

    [( p –> q) ^ q ] —> p

which is the fallacy of the converse accident:

If you are without a child, then you will be successful. You are successful. Then you MUST be without child.

The logic fails on so many levels. Even with a child, you might be successful (in a worldly sense). There are many examples. Even without a child, you might be a failure. There are plenty single childless drug addicts.

All of this is blatant materialism and consumerism.

Repeat after me, Brian Fung: the purpose in life is not to win the world, but lose your soul.

    Twit.

Oh, and by the way, I didn’t know that, “baby,” was one of the three major races of man. He can’t even get his words straight. We aren’t targeting anyone. It is the, “non-whites and low income,” mothers who are targeting their babies. They are the ones doing the killing. They are the racists within their own race. Pro-lifers are trying to stop them from being racists.

  9. Of course if the liberal had any brains, they’d be a smart alec and say that they’ve taken abstract algebra, where 2 + 2 can indeed be said to make 5, as well as 2 x 2 = 0…(not in the same dimensions of Z)….enough math talk…

Yep, it must be so that we’re racist since there obviously is a racial undertone in the reason why we’re NOT promoting abortions.., that’s it (sarcasm over)

  10. Kerry says:

“Yes, but how do you knoooow she is a witch?”……”She looks like one!!!!..We did do the nose. But sheeeeee’s a witch!!”

  11. bigmikensc says:

Isn’t that what Margaret Sanger wanted when she became the founder and patron saint of planned parenthood to eliminate the undesirables i.e. minorities. So the liberals are actually the racists for supporting abortion to do away with the undesirables. Does the President know about this? Somebody better tell Joe Biden with his Civil Rights credentials.

  12. Kevin says:

I think liberals have a knack for tying together completely unrelated issues in order to 1) enforce unity of thought and action over their own kind; 2) discredit opposing viewpoints by illogical association. Thus, in the mind of the liberal, one cannot be pro-life without also being pro-rape, anti-woman, in favor of killing abortion clinic staff, fully paid up members of the Westboro Baptist Church, and now racist apparently. Similarly, once one concedes that rich people ought to do more to help the poor, one is also expected to support abortion, heavy taxation, contraception, the gay agenda, secularization, etc. I think this is how Catholics like the LCWR get sucked in, by first supporting one liberal standpoint on one isolated issue (e.g. poverty) and then falling for the lie that the issue in question can only be solved by adopting the liberal worldview in its entirety, encompassing a whole set of entirely different issues.

  13. HeatherPA says:

However, if a minority is on death row and deemed “not guilty” by the liberals, then one is “racist” if they do not defend his/her right to live.
    Huh???!?!?!

  14. Gail F says:

REad the comments over there, it’s frightening! One guy says that minority women aren’t “necessrily” interested in becoming “forced breeding machines” to perpetuate their minority race, and that it’s a simple fact that not having children makes a woman wealthier, so why should they care about anything else? These are sick people.

  15. Margaret says:

Reading this, all I could think of was Wesley’s response to Vizzini’s monologue: Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

  16. rodin says:

“An abortion ban would disproportionately affect women from non-white and low-income backgrounds,” he wrote, proving the pro-life movement’s “inherent racial and socio-economic unfairness.”

As pointed out several times above the writer has walked right into the truth; abortionists are dedicated racists. As you point out, abortionists/racists will throw one of their SF-nutties rather than admit the truth. Carry an umbrella.

  17. I am proud to say that, under the definition that

if you are pro-life, you are a racist,

I have been a racist as far back in my almost 67 years as I can recall. I only wish that people who were pro-choice would be as honest in admitting that “if you are pro-choice you are an accomplice to the willful taking of an innocent life.”

  19. medievalist says:

This brand of logic immediately brought to mind the famous Captain Picard “There are four lights” moment, but even more relevant perhaps is the Orwell reference “2+2=5”. I suspect, however, that the irony of liberals instead of conservatives becoming Big Brother would be lost on said liberals.

  20. robtbrown says:

Brian Fung is simply applying garden variety Marxist analysis. Class Conflict explains everything, thus: Opposing abortion is simply an example of attempting the economic repression of the lower classes.

Ironic that 25 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Marxism is still around. Gramsci would be proud.

  21. James Joseph says:

I was in a ‘Target’ store early on today and there was a late-40’s-ish to 50’s-ish woman who was buying men’s briefs. She commented how she has no children. Somehow the conversation devolved when I quipped quickly about public schools and policymakers aggrandising themselves at the expense of others. In this case, I said something about contraception being forced on unwilling participants and the notorious food for sterilisation programs funded by US tax-dollars.

She was aghast! She couldn’t believe that sort of thing goes on in the United States. I casually informed here I was talking about places overseas (and I how I worked for a short-stint with the Dep’t of State). How I have had young women actually complain about the American government and the United Nations for forcing them to either starve or be sterilised.

The nice lady became not so nice in a flash! And grew angry. “You know there isn’t enough resources on the planet!” And, “If they don’t know how to close their legs something has to be done about it!” After hearing these lines I verified with her if what I heard was correct by re-stating the problem of brown skinned people in brown skin countries being destroyed by America. She then said I didn’t seem to understand and asked me if I read a book by some woman’s name I cannot remember. I stated I had not, and the kind lady who became a monster stomped away huffing.

    Today I met a racist.

  22. Angie Mcs says:

We humans vitally need structured morals to follow logic, and to recognize its value. Without morals, we get these ludicrous arguments and worse, people who mindlessly follow them. The list grows longer and longer.

Unless we hold onto the values intrinsic in our Church, we are lost. We become victims of our own ignorance, arrogance and pursuit of whatever we think is right. And the cost to others, the incredible damage, means nothing. Humanity is so frail, always hanging on a thread when it hangs by itself. With the growing abandonment of guidance from God, what hope does logic have?

  23. jflare says:

I read both the column and a few of the comments that followed on. It did make me angry, reading some of them, but after a moment.. I keep thinking of a line from “North and South”: Madeline Main–Orry’s wife–when informed that men intend to try to driver her off her land–Orry have died early in the show–says this: “These are sad, slow-witted men. All except Cooper. That makes him the most dangerous.”
When the foreman for her sawmill mentions that he’ll aim for Cooper first as a result, Madeline tells him no, Cooper is still her son’s uncle.

These are indeed, sad, sad people. As inclined as I am to scream at them, I think it might be more helpful if we’d all offer a few Hail Mary’s instead. We can’t pull them out of their misery, I’m afraid.

They’ll need to turn to God, Himself, for that.

  24. haroldcrews says:

There was logic of a sort taking place. When the value of the unborn is placed at zero then the reduction of the accessibility of abortion is ‘racist’. Because abortion is disproportionately used by black women its limitation disproportionately affects black women in a negative manner in their eyes. Disproportionate impact when it occurs to a racial minority is proof of ‘racism’ in a liberal’s perspective. This is because they have adopted the ideology of racial equality and there can be no other reason for a disproportion impact other than ‘racism’. The actual intent of the people opposing them is irrelevant since ‘racism’ is often institutionalized and the individuals guilty of ‘racism’ may not be aware of its institutionalization.

Logic’s ability to produce truth depends upon which the underlying premises that the argument is based. Here the underlying premises are the worth of an unborn child is zero. The races are equal in all things. And that ‘racism’ can be institutionalized. If any one of the propositions are false then their argument fails. I would hold that all three are false.

  25. Kerry says:

Angie Mcs. Faith is supported by logic, and reason. The left has abandoned reason, believing that faith is simply the willing that something is true, and then believing those with any faith whasoever are misguided loonies. And when they define themselves as right, and correct, and the saviours of the planet, the poor, the oppressed, et. al., their reaction to those of faith is execrable, and can even be violent. An example above is “The nice lady became not so nice in a flash! And grew angry. ” She absolutely believes, without evidence, her credo about ‘the planet’ and resources. We can use logic to defend our faith. She cannot. The left cannot. They only call names. Sometimes reasoning can break through. An example. People with clipboards near what is now a CVS pharmacy were campaigning against it, trying to ‘Save the mom & pop pharmacy across the street from the BIG Corporate INTERESTS (Eeek!)’ I suggested that a law be passed saying that only so much of any particular drug/medicine could be sold by CVS, and then people would have to buy across the street. The female clipboardist inhaled, exhaled, paused and said, “I don’t think they can do that”. However, she did not get it that she got it. (One hopes that Archbishop Dolan’s phrase, “And those waiting to be born…” will get through.)

  26. mormormax says:

Yes. This just seems to prove the point that Planned Parenthood was begun in order to cull out the undesirables, specifically those of color. I’m sure a liberal would find it difficult to follow the argument to that logical conclusion, however.

  27. lelnet says:

The day when supporting a policy that killed more black people over one that killed fewer black people became “racist” is the day when the word “racist” finally lost its last shred of real meaning.

  28. tealady24 says:

They’d better hurry up with their evil “rascist” argument because in a very few short years there will be no one left to defend, as most black babies and other minorities will have been aborted out of existence. And not by any of us.

  30. frjim4321 says:

Interesting post, though the race issue doesn’t seem to stand on it’s own, it seems also very much intertwined with the poverty issue.

I don’t know offhand the poverty rate among various races but wonder if it tracks with the rates of elective abortion as indicated above.

  31. sea the stars says:

A racist is anyone who disagrees with a liberal.

Still, it could be worse. Consider the situation in Germany. Disagree with a liberal on the subject of mass immigration over here and you will be labelled a nazi and reported to the police for “hate speech”.

  32. Imrahil says:

Ben Johnson’s writings would have made out a good peace of satire, to the topic “The General Confusion of Elementary Logics in Modern Times”. Or maybe a not so good one: so obviously faked.

Only… they are not faked. Reality is more satirical than the satire.

Excuse the expression, but I can’t eat as much as I should like to vomit.

  33. KristinLA says:

If a liberal needs to be reminded of the extreme depravity true racists are capable of, I highly recommend Immaculee Ilibagiza’s book “Left to Tell” about her survival of the Rwanda racist genocide in 1994. Read her graphic description of how black Rwandans raped, dismembered, beheaded, and burned 800,000 lighter-black Rwandans because of racial prejudice. You can’t read that book and then carelessly use the word “racist” like a playground insult.
The book is deeply moving and I recommend it as a good spiritual read.

  34. Venerator Sti Lot says:

I think haroldcrews interesting analysis needs sharpening on one point. One of the underlying premises is not simply that “the worth of an unborn child is zero”. It is more that an unborn child is a sort of blank counter to which ‘value’ may be freely assigned. Thus a so-called “wanted child” is not assigned a zero. George Grant has an relevant essay entitled “The Triumph of the Will” (as well as his book English-Speaking Justice, for that matter).

I once heard a single self-described atheist (or was she agnostic?) feminist socialist speaker who put the case that abortion was used to keep minorities and the poor down (giving them easy access to abortion rather than providing for them properly in terms of education, etc.) – and who found it obvious that unborn children were equals deserving equal protection (including her own, one congenitally disabled, the other procreated in circumstances she considered the equvalent of rape). Perhaps this is an example of natural law and the light of natural reason at work to a considerable extent? It is most regrettable that such reasoning seems so uncommon!
