Urgent prayer request: health

I am pretty sick at the moment, Friday night, high fever.  I heard confessions for a while tonight that that almost did me in.  I have to give two talks at a men’s retreat tomorrow morning, I have an early Mass on Sunday and a baptism, and I fly on Monday to do a parish retreat.

Please, I ask you to “storm heaven” a bit for my sake.

UPDATE:

I woke up this morning after a night that was only half, feeling slightly better. The fever is down.

I gave my two talks and was tired, but I didn’t feel hideous.  Afterward, I hit the rack and slept for a while.

I now feel nearly human again.

Thanks for the prayers. I would only ask that you keep them up for a while.  I don’t know what this was, but I sure don’t want it anymore.

Ahhh….I’m sorry. Certainly sending prayers for you. I do hope you feel better soon – it’s a tough time of year, particularly for a priest with all those responsibilities. God bless.

    Fr. Z.,

I have just offered prayer for your quick and full recovery, for the strength you need to fulfil your priestly oblicgations that are coming up for you over the next few days and for safe healthy travel as you head off to the men’s retreat. is there anybody to support your physical needs at the moment? Please beware of running yourself into the ground and hampering the healing process, especially re travel.

  9. Patrick-K says:

Don’t overextend yourself. Have a hot whiskey to disinfect your throat, a good night’s rest, and see where you are then. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

  10. Cathy says:

Immaculate Mary, health of the sick and help of Christians: graciously hear our prayers, and intercede with your Son, Jesus Christ, that Father may be restored promptly to health, so as always to know and do God’s will and serve His people. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

  25. A.D. says:

Prayers for a quick miracle of healing, Father. However, consider a substitute for the baptism. It’s bad enough for you to be around what we hope are healthy adults during the infectious period of a viral or bacterial disease, but you should not be around the baby. Just a word of caution.

  26. StLindaUnderConstruction says:

Today I will offer up my participation in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and Holy Communion; I will dedicate Fr. Rick Heilman’s “Special Ops” devotional practice; and I will ask the intercession of the 28 Patron Saints against fever to join me in praying the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet for Fr. Z’s physical and spiritual well-being. I especially invoke St. Benedict who is a Patron Saint against fever and also against evil spirits, which are behind many sicknesses. Since we are in the holy season of Lent, we should expect increased spiritual warfare and use all the weapons Holy Mother Church has provided.

Fr. Z, et al, do not forget to set your clock one hour ahead at bed time because the USA returns to Daylight Savings tonight. I hope to see you at 7 AM EF/TLM – on time – tomorrow Father! Prayers.

I’m heading in to Divine Liturgy at the Russian Embassy here in Beijing, will write your name down on the prayer request sheet and beg for God’s mercy! Hospodi pomiluj…

  41. Kathleen10 says:

Fr. Z., sometimes, it just can’t be done. Sick is sick and if you can’t do something, the world will not end. I’m saying this so that you make sure to care for YOU. Flying doesn’t seem a good idea at all. I’ve heard people get good results from Alka Seltzer for colds/flu’s. Keep the Tylenol going.
Prayers will be said for your quick recovery. God bless you.

  42. joan ellen says:

Just prayed 3 Hail Mary’s for your health, Fr. I use Vit. C, a little zinc, a little Oregano Oil under the tongue, a little plain yogurt to enhance the ‘good guys’, rest…and prayers. Sugar, grains, and fruit kill off the bad ones, but also weaken us…my understanding from others on the Internet. I also agree with the bone broth mentioned above.

  43. joan ellen says:

Just prayed 3 Hail Marys for you Fr.

  44. Sonshine135 says:

Continued prayers for you Father Z. Please get some down time if you can. My wife worked 12 days straight while sick, and she still isn’t over this. Doctor diagnosed as a pretty nasty little virus.

  45. guans says:

Thank You Heavenly Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Mother Mary as well as all the saints invoked above for getting Father back on his feet again.
Please send legions of angels to protect him as well as all in need of Your Mercy. Amen
St Michael, the Archangel, Defend us in battle. Be our protection…

  46. Ellen says:

I suspect you have a virus. I was teaching one day last week when I simply felt so bad, so weak so lethargic that I had to sit down. That night I had chills. So I went to see my doctor who took some tests and said it was a virus and it would have to run its course. A few days later I felt fine and I hope you are feeling much better too Father.

  47. wmeyer says:

    Prayers continuing…
