Holy Apostles Seminary

Fr. Lang will speak to the seminarians of Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT, on Friday, September 7th at the invitation of Rev. Douglas L. Mosey, C.S.B., Rector.
In response to Summorum Pontificum, Holy Apostles [Seminary] will begin publicly offering the Mass according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the seminary chapel. The public is welcome to attend.
Rev. John Mary Gilbert, I.S.J, a professor at Holy Apostles Seminary, and Rev. Gregoire Fluet, Pastor of St Bridget Parish, Moodus, CT, and the Vice-President of Holy Apostles Seminary, will offer the Traditional Latin Mass on each Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The brothers from the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius (Chicago) who are seminarians at Holy Apostles Seminary will form the chant schola for the weekly High Mass at the seminary chapel.

Martin Mosebach is an eminent German novelist and essayist. In October of this year, he will receive the Georg Buechner prize, the highest German literary award. His Heresy of Formlessness, on the Traditional Latin Mass, was published in English translation last year by Ignatius Press.
Father Lang is a priest of the Brompton Oratory in London and author of Turning towards the Lord: Orientation in Liturgical Prayer. (Foreword by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger) He has been appointed recently to the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Patrimony of the Church.
It is indeed a wonderful Catholic college and seminary. And I have heard great things about their Distance Learning programs.

My husband attended Holy Apostles, well before I met him.
He has nothing but great things to say about that seminary. It is no surprise they would be doing this.
I just happened on their website a few days ago and found out about their Distant Learning Program. He has contacted them – so we are hoping he may pursue his studies while he teaches.

I attended Holy Apostles with Teresa B.’s husband- I was ordained in 1993, been in my current parish since 2001 [albeit not in my original diocese of ordination], been offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass weekdays in our chapel ad orientem since 2002, and the folks who attend LOVE it. Am preparing for the Extraordinary Form of the Mass at some point in the future. Happy to see my alma mater doing such fine things!
I find it very interesting to note that the rector of this seminary (and the priest who issued this invitation) is a Basilian priest, Father Mosey C.S.B.
The General Curia of the Basilians per infra orbem is located in Toronto and I am told on good authority (I have more than one connection with the Basilans)that where they can’t actually forbid a priest of that Congregation from celebrating the Extraordinary Rite publicly or from supporting in other ways, they can and will make his life miserable.
Perhaps Holy apostles is enough out of sight to be out of mind but here in Toronto I’m not holding my breath.
I attended this lecture last night and it was very good. Bothe were excellent speakers. I bought both books that htey had available and am looking forward to reading them. If you get the opportunity to hear them speak I suggest you attend as well.

It is an interesting situation to see the seminaries begin to respond to the MP. For someone like myself who is always comparing and looking to see what seminaries are really orthodox and which aren’t, it may come to be that I can just compare each seminary’s response to the MP in order to see their orthodoxy, or at least see what their Liturgical practices are like.
