He’s celebrating the fact that he’s been cast as Tevye in the Vatican production of “Fiddler on the Roof.”

  8. Adam says:

How this pope has always been misunderstood, underestimated…but never by God whom the
Spirit has chosen to be the successor to Peter.
The man who has been so often villified by an ignorant media, never knowing the man, the
priest, the bishop who has given his life and energies to the Church.
So many cruel epithets have been aimed at him, but since his election in 05 he has
come to the fore, shown how to be pontiff, and whose character and personality
have shown forth as God had opened him up to the world. No mean task for a man in
his 80s who has been given such a heavy burden.
But the Lord has sustained him for the Church and this picture shows how he can
be himself and we can have a good laugh with him.

  9. Brendan Downunder says:

    So do I!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Jack says:

I guess the problem with a still picture is we don\’t really know what he was up to. That said though, it is a nice picture of a man who I am sure has a lovely side to him. You only have to look at some of the things he has written to see that there is a real joy flowing through his faith.

He still appears healthy and vibrant too, which is good :)

  11. Vin: Nice one! Good morning.

  18. Mitch says:

He is a breath of fresh air in the Vatican. I hope his Pontificate lasts many years. I remember his expression at his New York visit to St. Joseph’s Seminary. He was illuminated when sharing with the youth and he just glowed. He is a special Holy Pope for me. God Bless

  19. JohnE says:

LOL… a small anecdote for you.

Recently I went a reception at the LA School for the Blind, and noticed that most of the seeing eye dogs are German shepherds. This naturally led to a discussion of the holy father as “our German Shepherd who leads the blind.”
