    From top to bottom:

    King oyster mushrooms – Slice them lengthwise to make a great addition to stir-fry.

    Gingko fruit – Toss them into congee (rice porridge) for flavour.

    I’d love to see what Fr. Z can do with these ingredients!

    We used to have a couple of female ginkgo trees in the neighborhood. Summer and fall would see the sidewalks choked with their fruit, which of course when trod upon released a horrible odor (they contain butyric acid). The trees were eventually uprooted, but unfortunately “they” took the male trees as well.
