Ah, the irony.
It makes my head spin. Literally.
Gays and lesbians do not want “marriage” as it is traditionally known. Far from it. Statistics prove it (at least for the men…promiscuous as they are).
“Annulments” for same sex marriage???LOL! Pardon me while I fall off my chair laughing hysterically (hopefully not into a myocardial infarction…it’s possible, you know!):<)
They’re annulments even before the “marriage” happens…
Annulments for same-sex marriages? WOW, what a waste of money! And time! Just goes to show you: you can sell some people ANYTHING.
Annulments – interesting thought.
Well, the more canonically-minded Teutonic womynpriest advocates might struggle with this issue. But I don’t think the Californian ones will. They’ll likely try to dispense with annulments altogether, and argue instead that there is no doctrinal objection to divorce. “Easy come, easy go.” And Lord knows there have been no lack of liberal attacks on the Church’s stance on divorce – even by high ranking prelates. Indeed, before long they’ll follow the lead of some liberal Protestants and whip up special liturgies celebrating the “closure” of these unhappy life episodes.
This isn’t to say that liberal doyens can’t be just as intolerant and dictatorial as they accuse the Vatican of being – one need only look at how the leadership of the Episcopal Church has conducted itself toward more conservative elements within TEC, especially when the latter attempt to leave with their parishes and dioceses intact. (Remember Neuhaus’s Law: “Where orthodoxy is optional, sooner or later it will be proscribed.”) But when it comes to actual rules on anything related to sexual conduct, anything and everything can be tossed overboard to facilitate the impulses of the adults involved.
Will receiving an annulment from a same-sex marriage give someone the right to attempt marriage with someone of the opposite sex within the Church of the Roman Catholic Women Priests?
C. That’s the spirit!
