Pope Benedict got a new rolling platform and he used it for the first time at Pentecost Mass. It’s much more ornate than the previous one; gold and red velvet. I think it’s a bit taller as well. That’s my good news.
Received the new Blessing of a Child in the Womb from our priest on Friday.
My Knights of Columbus council paid for the $4,000 restoration of the stripped and emptied tabernacle on the old high altar in our parish. On Corpus Christi our new pastor is going to unveil it, and Our Lord is again going to have pride of place in the sanctuary after 40 years in an out-of-the-way corner!
Our next KofC project: Gently push for the return of the high altar for at least occasional celebrations of the Novus Ordo.
I have been accepted into the doctoral program at Maryvale working on Newman. Now, I just to find cheap digs.

It was very good to see the Pope on EWTN yesterday. I really love seeing Holy Communion distributed on the tongue at Papal Masses. They should bring it back for the whole Church.
Yesterday, my wife and I found out we are expecting our 4th child! Woohoo!
I couldn’t attend my usual English mass at our cathedral in Yokohama, Japan, so went to the 12 noon Japanese mass. It was a NO mass but to my very pleasant surprise, the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Our Father were all sung in Latin! And during communion, we had Veni Creator Spiritus. I was overjoyed. We have the Benedictine arrangement during the English mass but have not been able to convince the Japanese congregation to do the same. However, I have spoken with the priests and they are interested in doing the NO in Latin sometime. As you say, brick by brick.
After a month of not knowing what the moving company had done with our belongings, a month of sleeping on an air bed and sitting on borrowed folding chairs and eating off paper plates, our household goods finally arrived on Friday! We still have the monstrous task of unpacking everything, but at least we have a proper bed to fall into at the end of the day.
I was woken up by the sun this morning rather than an anxiety attack about going to work.
This year I was fortunate enough to attend Pentecost Sunday in the EF, thus I wasn’t subjected to cheesy folk music about the Holy Spirit, nor was I subjected to a touchy-feely borderline Pentecostal sing-along homily with the deacon and his folk guitar and some guy’s saxophone, which apparently symbolized the breath of the holy spirit breathing on the people.
i leave in two weeks for a two-week long prolife conference at Notre dame. i needed to get me my midwest summer fix, and hopefully i’ll meet some zealous prolife young Catholics as well!
Made a pot of Mystic Monk Coffee on Pentecost! Urstwhile bemoaning, “Ah, Evening Prayer marks the end of Easter; the end of Mystic Monk Coffee.” The last of such coffee in the pantry.
My good news? Just remembered that in the traditional kalendar, there is another week of Paschaltide! I’m now going to order coffee using Father Z’s link.

I have been in my new apartment since May 15 (got the news on May 11). Still a jumble of things to arrange and unpack (smaller space, being a studio). But I’m also mad at the movers, because I didn’t get everything! But my new place has a great seventh-floor view with a balcony, so I can look ‘ad orientem’ and offer my prayers from there! One of my new ‘neighbors’ was kind enough to give me a lounge chair, a small TV tray table, and a folding chair-so I can have my breakfast and dinner ‘al fresco’ on these nice late spring / early summer days!
At least I’m out of the shelter!
And I also had a wonderful retreat the weekend of May 18-21! The conferences were great, I had the opportunity to speak with the ‘highly-placed person’ who paid for it, and I reveled in the peace after everything I’ve been through since late April! Deo Gratias!
One of my sons received first Communion on Pentecost, and another son was Confirmed by the Bishop Emeritus of our diocese two weeks ago, both in the traditional Mass. We had eleven for first Communion and twenty-one Confirmed. Deo gratias!
More of the young flock to tradition, there is a strong tendency to tradition even amongst the regular seminarians and religious under the novus ordo, and the five trees of heresy continue to be shown as the illusions and farces they are: liberalism, socialism, modernism, nationalism and freemasonry.
In 3 days I’m flying to Wisconsin (from the UK) to spend two weeks with my friends who are Benedictine Monks; will assist at the Traditional Corpus Christi for the first time in 3 years, visit the Shrine at Green Bay (possibly also the Shrine of Our Lady of Guardeloupe at LaCross) and will make Several Rosaries to take home.
My first grandchild was born on May 23rd! Julia Estelle.
There is no better feeling in the whole wide WORLD than holding a grandchild in your arms for the very first time.
Tomorrow I start working full time again for first time since November 2009!
The first church of Heralds of the Gospel (in the International Seminary of the Heralds’ priestly branch, the Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right Virgo Flos Carmeli) has been made a basilica by Pope Benedict XVI. The Basilica is named Our Lady of the Rosary. If you look at the pictures, the exterior is not even completed and yet the Holy Father bestows this honor. Our Schola (that we e-mailed you about way back in February!) in Smyrna, TN had its first event for the parish yesterday, a chanted Adoration and Benediction service, and more than two dozen people came. (That was amazing for our small parish on Memorial Day Weekend.) The feedback was incredible, over and over again things like, “Now I really feel like a Catholic!” We are very excited and so are they!
During one of our evening walks together, my youngest confided in me that she believes she is being called to live as a nun. She is only 16 and much can happen but this was still joyful news. May God’s will be done.
Growing up in the super-liberal Northeast, I thought I’d have to go Midwest to meet a solid, TLM-attending, traditional young single man–when I first met him, I thought he was going to be a monk, or priest–happily for me, he had already done some discerning and we’ve been discerning now for three months. :)

I think I went to Mass at your parish when I was up in Smyrna for the Music City Hunting Retriever Club hunting test – St. Luke’s? You’d know us by the camouflage attire and the large dog truck full of Labrador Retrievers that thankfully did NOT bark during the Mass!
A nice church – great sermon from your deacon, very reverent celebration, Rosary before Mass and lots of people praying afterwards. We were happy to be there. It’s great news that you’ve got a Schola under way.
When I go to daily Mass (OF) and bring my 22 month old I usually carry her for approaching communion. She walked next to me on Friday. When approaching the priest she kneeled on both knees, looked up at father with her hands folded, then got up with the best joyful face she has. It was the second time she’s done this. The first time was when we were behind a man that kneeled then stood for communion. So I thought she would copy once. But again several weeks later, she did the same but with more “purpose” for a little tyke. I love it!
My oldest received her First Communion on Pentacost (Missa Cantata) and also received a new scapular sourced from a nearby Carmel (Lake Elmo, Minnesota).
Afterwards, we took a boat trip as a family and my mom and aunt could stop talking about how amazed and joyful they found the Mass (neither of which had been to that form of the Mass in 40+ years).
On Friday I graduated from highschool. On Saturday, three new priests were ordained for our archdiocese.

First, I LOVE your name :) Absolutely love it. As a convert to the Catholic Faith not too far off from your age, dwelling in the heart of Mary and participating in her relationship with the Triune God is one of the most dear things to my heart that I have learned.

For Memorial Day we had a lovely Usus Antiquior Requiem Mass, with the choir singing Giovanni Francesco Anerio’s Missa Pro Defunctis.
Final arrangement have been made for my vacation, I am taking both of Fr. Columba Kelly’s chant classes back to back in July. I pray for the health to do this, the drive down there (over there?) is a lot. I have a handicapped adapted room. The bookstore is graciously holding my books for me. I will have my very own Graduale Triplex. I am in chant nerd heaven.
9 weeks left until baby boy #2 joins our family!
