Google lists Rembert Weakland as a notable alumnus of the 337 shot…it all makes sense.

Does anyone know how the Benedictines went off the rails in the early 1900s? Was it a reaction to the Maurists? This has been such a puzzle to me for the ones who should have loved the Roman liturgy the most, since they were completely wrapped up in spreading it and building Europe through it, seem the most driven to expunge it.
