Since I am in Chicago, I post today a link to a story from this date last year, 4 August 2022, about the Archdiocese and the Institute of Christ the King.
You might remember that the local Archbishop said to the Institute, whose raison d’être is the use the traditional form of the Roman Rite, that they had to accept the patently and false and manifestly stupid claim that the Novus Ordo “is the only expression of the Roman Rite” or they couldn’t celebrate any Masses in their church. In other words, they offered the Institute an unjust choice: Accept the lie we are forcing on you, or you can’t functioning as priests… and it’s YOUR fault.
This sort of thing is a manifestation of what so often results for priests as moral injury.
Remember: It’s not just the rite, the Vetus Ordo, that they fear and hate, its the people (especially priests) who want those rites. It’s the people.
This past Sunday We went to Latin Mass at St. Patrick’s Oratory in Waterbury, CT. It is an Institute of Christ the King Church. We had to help move Our Grandson who plays football at U of New Haven. (I have the truck, no lifting for me.)
Great sermon, Father told us at one time Waterbury had the most Catholics in Connecticut and the most Vocations. You could tell by the beauty of the Oratory.
Church was packed. God Bless them.
NOT, Next time you are in CT, check out St Cyril and Methodius in Bridgeport. It is near I-95 , so easy to find. Rev Canon Altiere is a great priest. I am not a member, but I went for Corpus Christi and the external Solemnity of the Sacred Heart. Monsignor Gilles Wach was visiting. He read his sermon in French. Rev Canon Talarico read the translation.
I have attended there sporadically, but I always leave inspired and rededicated.
Thanks JGavin. That’s what I call Catholic Fellowship.
Glad to see that CT is represented here. My wife goes to St Patrick’s regularly and I go when I can (long story of why I can’t as much as I want). Beautiful church, incredible pastor, and strong faith of the congregation. I also believe Canon Altiere from Bridgeport and Canon Joel of Waterbury cover and / or help one another when needed.
Even better – not only does our archbishop support the TLM in his diocese, he actually presided over either the “official” opening of the parish or their 1 year anniversary. I’ve also heard that his successor either supports the TLM or at worst, doesn’t oppose it. . . which sometimes is the best you can hope for.
