In a side chapel of the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere is the funerary monument of a Cardinal who had a coat of arms that was a little creepy.
Here it is.

No. Wait.
Here it is.
This is the resting place of Pietro Francesco Card. Bussi, one-time head of the Penitenzieria Apostolica who died on 10 Sept 1765. You see his arms also in a small Roman church, S.M. in Via, that has a miraculous water fountain.
Santa Maria de Trastevere is one of my favorite churches in Rome. Not sure why. Maybe the location and history behind it. A shame that the side chapels are in such disrepair. However, even being there three times, I don’t remember that coat of arms! Will have to look for it next time.
Ha, I actually laughed out loud when I scrolled down and saw the eyes!
I wonder what the significance behind them was?
The Church universal is so amazing.
I also didn’t have a clue that that coat of arms was in Santa Maria Trastevere, and I’ve been there dozens of times. Unfortunately, I have that church associated with the Sant’Egidio group.

When there had been a scandal in a church concern the priest. These prayers were issued to pray. It was corrected However I have continued to pray and urge everyone I know to pray. I have seen a difference in our diocese : Eternal Father I offer you the precious blood your beloved son Jesus the lamb without blemish or spot for my sins & those of your priest. BY your precious blood of Jesus purify and sanctify your priest (said 10 times * I meditate on the sorrowful mysteries on this) THEN Father by whom all on Heaven & earth are named have mercy on all your priest and wash them in the blood of the Lamb. I add bishops, cardinals and archbishops. I know they are priest but I feel it to be stronger?
