With e5 double guarded, nothing stops
    2. Q×f7#
    Except:
    1. . . . . . . . . N-g5
    In which case:
    2. Q-f6#
    Or
    1. . . . . . . . . B-h5
    In which case:
    2. e5×d4# (discovered)

  2. Matthew111 says:

    1. Nxd6 Kxe7
    2. Qxf7#

    OR

    1. Nxd6 any other move
    2. Qh6#

  3. Matthew111 says:

Oh, wait, that’s all kinds of wrong, lol.

  4. dholwell says:

    1. Qh6 + Kxe5
    2. Rg4 #

    or
    1. Qh6+ Nf6
    2. Qxf6 #

  5. stdaniel says:

    Qh6
    Nf6
    Qf6#

    Qh6
    Ke5
    Qd6 #

  6. Matthew111 says:

Ah, waalaw’s solution is right again, but they left out that black can pin the queen with Rg2 (in which case e5xd6# as in the last case), that was what I having trouble with.

The other two commenters’ don’t work if black plays Ng6.

  7. beggingformercy says:

Matthew111, I dont think that works:
    Re4, Rg2
    exd6+, Bxe4
    ?

  8. beggingformercy says:

    Rxc4, (Bh5 or Ng5 or Bxe5)
    Rd4#

    Rxc4, (Nf6 or Bxc4 or Bd5)
    Qxf7#

    Rxc4, Rxh2
    Re4#

There may be a move I’m missing. Thanks to waalaw for putting us on the right track!
