When Card. Tagle sang “Imagine”

I don’t think this is AI:

Lyrics

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin’ for today
Ah
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin’ life in peace
You
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

We need to see the full video, if one exists. Did he sing all the lyrics? It’s shocking to see how Commie they are.

  2. James C says:

Bergoglian bishops are really covering themselves in glory, aren’t theythey?

At mass on Easter Sunday, Bruno Forte berated three faithful for receiving communion in the hand, accusing them of pride and disobedience.

I hope this ruins his chances of ever getting elected. To say that I hate that song doesn’t even begin to describe my feelings about it.

    Self awareness score zero

  5. APX says:

My question is why isn’t he wearing his clerical attire? There’s a crucifix in the background, so it’s not like this was a secular event even.

If you wouldn’t sing it while dressed as a cardinal, do you really think you should be singing it?

    Imagine.

    May 13th.

    Imagine.

May 13th the conclave elects the pope!

    Just for laughs…

A friend of mine had revised some of the lyrics to….

You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one
I hope some day you will wake up…and get a job you bum!

  9. TheCavalierHatherly says:

No possessions? I wonder what would happen if I walked into Paul McCartney’s house and sampled some of the things in his fridge?

    I can certainly… imagine… what would happen.

  10. EAW says:

    @TheCavalierHatherly:
I don’t quite understand why you bring Paul McCartney into this. He wasn’t involved in this dreadful song, and at the time (well after The Beatles split up) he and John Lennon weren’t exactly on good terms.

  11. Bev says:

Cardinal Tagle sang a Christianized version of the song. No anti-religion lyrics. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIvrKh4geH4

Good prudence may suggest restraint against posting content that could poison some readers against a possible future pope, especially when the full context is not clear. How many of us are doing penance for the conclave, that they vote with wisdom for a holy man who will give us strong, faithful leadership?

[Bad song. Sorry. Can’t be separated from it’s original words.]

  12. Veronica scriptor velum says:

It was actually John Lennon who composed and wrote the lyrics for the song “Imagine”, not Paul McCartney. All the Beatles (two brought up as Catholics and two as Anglican Protestants) gradually became total agnostics over the years. They toyed with Hindu type religions for a time but then dropped these too.
Yet it was Lennon who was the most atheistic of the four. His sudden death at the hands of a gunman makes one fear for his eternal salvation.

Nothing screams papabile like John Lenon!
