    The look of joy on the Holy Father’s face as he greeted, and was greeted by, all of these enthusiastic men who are giving their lives to God and His Church is priceless! As is his shy smile as he stood in front of them and waited for the cries of Papa Leone to eventually quiet down so he could begin his talk…beautiful!

    I hope I am correct in saying that Cardinal Zen was present and greeted by the pope. The smile on his face was so moving. The late pope refused to see him. If I am wrong in my identification, Fr Z plz delete my comment.

    Relief? Sort of… I would feel better if he took action on Rupnik.

    @ThePapalCount:
    Yes, that was definitely Cardinal Zen. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was deliberately placed first in row.

    A couple of things I noticed: Pope Leo allows his ring to be kissed, something Pope Francis rather rudely avoided. Some of the bishops remembered one is supposed to remove the zuchetto when one greets the Holy Father, I hope this catches on. I hope the bishops in clergyman will dress in cassock next time, this was definitely brutta figura.

    I think things in the Church will get better in time with our new pope. We need to give him that time to “fix” things. After all, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

    Agree with @jhogan. Sadly, cutting down a tree takes minutes, growing one takes years. I have been thinking about this recently, between the changes in the Church and trying to grow a few pothos for some friends (it’s a fast growing plant! it still takes it 2-3 weeks just to start rooting!), and being reminded of that thing Benedict said in the inaugural Mass of his pontificate, that the world is redeemed by the patience of God and destroyed by the impatience of man.
