Remember that event in Peru during which an official of the DDF (olim Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) made an offering to the demon Pachamama? It was a few days back that this was dropped, but the times being what they are, we move on to other things in about 17 minutes. It seems there was more to that Peruvian event – something of a lead up to Leo’s visit to Peru – than was initially reported. The Lepanto Institute reports that that communist and trans and sodomite groups were part of it, too. The post is alarming.

the Lepanto article is very lengthy and both depressing and infuriating. it reminds me of something i heard from a member of a religious order: “when i was a novice one of the older brethren warned us about the communists and homosexuals and that they caused everyone else no end of troubles. decades on and i’ve yet to meet a communist in the order.”
it contains one significant error: it would have been coca leaves rather than cocoa leaves in the sacrilege.
there was one tiny bit of amusement near the beginning: the bishop having the forename Lizardo. i’ve not come across that one before and it’s so fitting.
Fr. Foley is a good priest. He was helpful to me during my own discernment process. He also spent some time serving in-country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Philadelphia is his home.

Regarding the Goose Wars…
When I was a college puke, finally turning to the Church, I was catechized by an old school Polish priest. He said someone of importance (can’t recall who) compared the Holy Spirit to a goose rather than a dove.
As a convert, it makes good sense to me. Having had some real-world experience with farm geese (who protect and boss the other birds) I can tell you that you cannot ignore a goose very easily. They are persistent and… motivated. They are not easily shooed like a dove, or sedentary like a dove.
It makes sense to me because of the way God thoroughly upended my previous way of life and would not be ignored. Thanks be to God!
The psalm on the goose page is “O God, come to my aid. O Lord, make haste to help me.”
Geese are guardian birds, and famously warned and guarded Rome when it was sneak-attacked.
