My Mass intention today was for my benefactors, those of you who donate regularly, ad hoc, or send things.

There is word in Italian, a pernicious concept, “buonismo”.  Go along to get along.  Why can’t you stick to the party line?  You are making waves!  Why can’t you just be good?

Be advised.

I can’t resist but to make a little poke at the dragon comic. I’d like to make a pithy response: They had their chance to be public friends with people like Cardinal Burke or Cardinal Sarah. But they wouldn’t…or couldn’t?

    I always found that strange.

The one key position that sets the SSPX aside from other groups like the FSSP, ICKSP, and folks like Cardinal Burke and Cardinal Sarah, is they fundamentally view the new mass as lacking. They have even used the word “evil” to describe it. Their reasoning is that the propitiatory and sacrificial nature of the mass was removed by the changes following Vatican II.

They present some sound arguments, and there is evidence to support them, such as the offeratory prayers of the traditional rite being replaced by a Talmudic table blessing. Fr. Z himself has written about the changes to the offertory here: https://wdtprs.com/2015/04/ask-father-using-the-traditional-offertory-prayers-in-the-novus-ordo-wherein-fr-z-rants/

It’s worth reading Fr. Z’s article, and then reviewing the SSPX’s arguments for why they cannot accept the new mass. Whether or not you agree isn’t important. I’m not trying to convince you of one side or the other, but just presenting the facts and the arguments as they are.
