Tomorrow is my last full day in Rome.
Today, however, 06:44 saw the sun rise over the Seven Hills.
Sunset was 17:03.
It was the Feast of St. Charles Borromeo… an incredible saint who gave his all and died young. What he accomplished is astonishing. Shall we see his like again? Ask God to raise up great saints for our day. How this might come to pass must be left to God, given that the sort of human formation at work in the 16th c. is unthinkable now.
Recently I had supper with a Notable Catholic Commentator Well-Known To You™ at a regular haunt. I glad to say that, while the amatriciana was good, the saltimbocca was the best I’ve had for a while. They are really on their game right now.

Check out Elle Effe… and tell them “don John” sent you.
On the way home.

White to move and mate in 4.

NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.
Meanwhile,…
Happy Wednesday 🙂 https://t.co/C2QYMD6SJm
