  1. It is the monstrosity to the right of Notre Dame in that picture that should have burned instead. (After evacuating all the people.)

  2. I’m almost more horrified over what the interior designers will have come up with for inside the cathedral, frankly. I’ve read about devotional niches for people of other religions of peace. Not to mention – what will the new Cramnerian table look like?

    There are some photos here:

If it was possible to die from sheer boredom, those pictures would need a warning label.

I didn’t know something could actually be that unremarkable.

    @ Anita Moore, O.P.(lay):
The Tour Montparnasse’s only redeeming quality is the view from its top, but wishing to trade that for an undamaged Notre Dame is an absolute no brainer to me.

    @ Charles E Flynn:
It is indescribably bland, but I have seen much worse (unfortunately). The good thing is that it could easily be replaced by something better in the future.

Looking at the pictures, one can be grateful that the artist at least didn’t use this as an opportunity to create positively offending anti-religious “art”. But…that’s about all one can say for it. Did anyone think that the furniture needed to go with the cathedral itself? This stuff looks completely out of place, and on that basis alone is jarring and painful.

  7. I was wrong. It’s not a Cramnerian table. It’s a……. Ikea coffee table made to resemble a half Easter egg, precariously balanced, purchased off the Ikea clearance section, with no expense spared as long as it was under 100 €? With a matching lamp stand to serve as an ambo? And a lovely matching chair thrown in at no extra cost?
