“Oremus Pro Pontifice” stuff and store

In light of the attacks on Pope Benedict which are sure to continue in the media, I thought it would be a good idea to pray more frequently for the Holy Father and to help you remind others to do the same.

Here are some trinkets which you might consider in this cause.

With the help of "Vincenzo", the official WDTPRS photoshopper, I made a cafepress store for buttons and the like.

If you are in the USA

Get Pro Pontifice stuff here.

If you are in the UK…

You can get the Pro Pontifice stuff here.

If you are an Aussie …

You can get Pro Pontifice stuff here.

If you are a Canadian …

You can get Pro Pontifice stuff here.

There are also mugs and a hat and some shirts and the like.

There are as well packs of 100 buttons in different sizes which you could distribute to people.

From the the Enchiridion of Indulgences, #25:

A partial indulgence is granted to the Christian faithful who, in a spirit of filial devotion, devoutly recite any duly approved prayer for the Supreme Pontiff (e.g., the Oremus pro Pontifice):

V. Let us pray for our Pontiff, Pope Benedict.

R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and bless him upon earth, and deliver him not to the will of his enemies.

Our Father.  Hail Mary.

Let us pray.

O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant Benedict, whom Thou hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by his word and example, he may edify those over whom he hath charge, so that together with the flock committed to him, may he attain everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Offered Morning Prayer from the Hours for him this morning. He needs our prayers. The evil one is on the prowl.

  2. Just ordered two magnets and the 1 liter water bottle!!! Will be back for more next month. GREAT EASTER GIFTS, by the way.

  3. Unfortunately the shirt sizes are too small for me. I’ll look into some buttons though

  4. irishgirl says:

What a great idea! I’d order the buttons if there was a ‘snail mail’ address to send payments. Don’t have a credit or debit card.

Who composed the beautiful choral piece that’s on the video? And what church was the choir singing?

Are there any online petitions of support that we can send to the Holy Father? I offer my daily Rosary for him….

  5. People are responding pretty well!

I particularly hope some will be packs of buttons to distribute far and wide.

  6. Adrianne says:

Great idea! What about getting the text of the prayer onto the mugs? I could remember to say it every time I get a cup of coffee, and that’s not negligible…

  7. Darn. Nothing for sell here in the Philippines.

Might as well make my own here, eh?

  8. TLMom says:

Many prayers for Pope Benedict XVI! I just ordered 2 mugs, one for our home and one for my parents’. Can’t wait for them to arrive! My morning coffee always tastes better in my “Fr. Z” mugs!

Well, I decided day before yesterday to stay off twitter (all social networking) from 6pm today until Easter night devoting the whole week to sacrifice and prayer for the Holy Father, all priests, and Holy Mother Church. So, a very blessed Holy Week, Father, and to all.

The “Sacramento Bee” this morning dedicated the whole front page to the subject and a four column continuation inside, including a statement from Bishop Soto. He said that much as changed in recent years. He noted that, at the urging of the Vatican, the U.S. bishops created the Charter for the Protection of Young People, “putting the full force of the Church behind creating a safe environment for children, mandatng the report of any crime against minors, promoting healing and reconciliation with victims, and removing any clergy, religious or Church worker guilty of sexual abuse of a minor.” Now they are going after Pope John Paul II as well. Then there is a quote from Rita Mize, VP of Sacramento area’s Call to Action, angry that “female priests” have been excommunicated but the Wisconsin priest who was accused of molesting so many deaf children was allowed to stay a priest. Other liberal factions within the Church are joining the fray. Northern California’s “Voice of the Faithful,” a lay group formed to call for “accountability” in the Church, is among those calling for the Pope to resign, of all things. Our Holy Father really needs our prayers, prayers, prayers, as does the entire Catholic Church which will be, I fear, in for more and virulent attacks.

  11. Prof. Basto says:

In the mean time, the BBC is almost calling on the pope to resign.

I loved the idea of this, and the new mug makes my coffee taste better I think. :)

It reminds me to be thankful for the Church, and especially for Pope Benedict. Thankful for the real martyrdom which he has taken upon himself for our sake.

    Father:

What about window stickers for cars?

  14. wanda says:

Irishgirl, At the Cardinal Newman Society’s website we can join in a Spiritual Bouquet to our Holy Father.

  15. OT: Father, thank you for your service and for saying “yes” to His call. Prayers for you today.

  16. irishgirl says:

wanda-yep, I went there, and I put my part in for the Holy Father’s Spiritual Bouquet!

Fr. Z-I already said it on one of your newer posts, but I’ll say it in different words: Thank you for your priesthood!

  17. RichR says:

    Fr. Z.,

Have you given any more thought to my idea about the wristbands (half yellow, half white like the Papal Flag) with “Oremus Pro Pontifice” embossed in it?

  18. ljc says:

The Knights of Columbus and Bishop Lori are promoting a novena to be said for the Holy Father beginning this Sunday ending on the Pope’s anniversary of election. Imagine what good could be done if the whole country would join in! More info here:

  19. John V says:

Oremus pro pontifice indeed. Associated Press is running a story with the headline: “AP EXCLUSIVE: Future pope stalled pedophile case”

  20. Rob F. says:

    V. Oremus pro Pontifice nostro Benedicto Sexto Decimo.
    R. Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum eius. [Ps 40:3]

    Pater Noster, Ave Maria.

Deus, omnium fidelium pastor et rector, famulum tuum Benedictum Sextum Decimum, quem pastorem Ecclesiae tuae praeesse voluisti, propitius respice: da ei, quaesumus, verbo et exemplo, quibus praeest, proficere: ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi credito, perveniat sempiternam. Per Christum, Dominum nostrum. Amen.
