Another great video about SSPX from the Catholic News Service (no, really!)

I continue to be amazed at the recent coverage by the Catholic News Service
of the SSPX. They are putting up beautful videos and they are being very … positive.

The Catholic News Service!   Really!

Here is their blurb:

This week we continue our look at the Society of St. Pius X, the traditionalist movement which may be close to reconciliation with Rome after years of separation over the modernizing reforms of the Second Vatican Council. We visit the society’s principle seminary in Econe, Switzerland, which was founded in 1970 by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and has a reputation for being the epicenter of opposition to Vatican II.

Part 1 is available here:

I pray to God for their swift reconciliation as an entire group… whole and entire if possible. If not whole, then in part. If not in part, then as individuals.

I’ve said it a hundred times….

Benedict XVI is the Pope of Christian Unity.

In the meantime.. check this out!

All we can do is pray that God’s will be done at this point but videos like these really give cause for hope. They really are excellent videos.

Well done. The videos help one to understand the difficulty at hand, and to see the people involved.

Know that, with you, I continue to pray “to God for their swift reconciliation as an entire group… whole and entire if possible. If not whole, then in part. If not in part, then as individuals”, and for all of our separated brethren, whose reconciliation would be a great spiritual boon to the Church.

Who would have thought 20 years ago that it was possible that the Catholic News Service could produce a video like this about the SSPX? It is really almost enough to bring tears to my eyes. We must pray so hard for the fruit to be born from Pope Benedict’s heroic efforts to bring Econe into the heart of the Church.

Bishop Fellay has a sense of peace about him that you rarely see in bishops today. I had the good fortune of being on the same flight with Bishop Fellay a few years ago. I saw him from a distance coming down the concourse to our gate area. There were dozens and dozens of soldiers being deployed to the Middle East from our airport that day. As Bishop Fellay made his way down the concourse, I could see soldier after soldier falling to their knees on either side of the concourse asking for a blessing and to kiss his ring. It was an amazing sight as the Bishop made his way from soldier to soldier. He is a wonderful person. I am certain Pope Benedict has seen this in him as well. They are closer friends than most people realize and have been for years.

I highly recommend this new documentary about the SSPX and its 40 year history: “Forty Years of Fidelity.” It has high production quality and is beautifully done. Available as a DVD via Amazon or directly from Angelus Press.

What a kind Bishop and sincere…..Let us Pray That the Holy Father the Pope of Christian Unity Brings them back to the Fold.
We know all are in need of Prayer….And that the Holy Father must be battling the liberals!

I have to agree with the above poster who stated that Bishop Fellay has a calmness that is very rarely seen today. The video did bring tears to my eyes. It is almost as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders and you yearn for his kind of serenity.

I pray the SSPX is recognized soon.

  9. WesleyD says:

In Part Two, at 1:26, the SSPX seminarian is reading the 1983 Code of Canon Law! That seems like a positive sign.

  10. RichardC says:

I like what he said about not being obliged to provoke the persecutor and about Catholic behavior.

  11. benedetta says:

I pray for reconciliation. These videos were great to see.
