You look too respectable to be on the NSR staff…The hat brings back good memories…growing up as a kid in the NY Archdiocese that would have been the typical “priest hat” worn by the parish priest.
Tell them that I’ll subscribe if they hire you, FrZ! And all they would have to send me would be your columns/articles. Xeroxes would do, so they could save a lot of money.

P.S. A reminder to all. The Boston Globe is owned by the NYT and they are talking about setting up their own national Catholic newspaper, maybe to go after the Register now owned by EWTN. Of course there are other rumors that say the NYT wants to sell the Globe, too.

I think the opening should go to Pope Michael for 5 reasons.
1) He is not too far from headquarters in Missouri since he lives in Kansas.
2) He says he has brought back over 1,000 Catholics books into print and has his own books as well.
3) He is both a Rad Trad and a Looney: hence he will provide much entertainment for both Self-Absorbed Neo-Pelagians and the Nuns on the Bus.
4) He has a healthy disregard for the Church Magisterium, just like NCR.
5) If he doesn’t get a job soon, he’ll never get the funding to start his monastery and buy the church he wants.

And that your articles and columns in the NCR would jack up their failing subscriptions and could thereby save them from the financial fate they otherwise so richly deserve.
