In a moment of candor Gov. Andrew Cuomo pulled down his mask and revealed the Left’s true colors. HERE For Cuomo, if you are pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-heterosexual marriage, you are an extremist. If you are one of adulterous Cuomo’s extremists (and especially if you are a Republican – as if there are myriads of pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-heterosexual marriage Democrats), there is no place for you in New York.

Let’s pray hard that the next bishop of Albany is orthodox and appointed soon. And, by the way, it’s more than just denying Cuomo and others Holy Communion. That’s just the beginning. It will take lots more than that to put a dent in the culture of death. They won’t just roll over and play dead as soon as they see canon 915 approaching.
Applying Canon 915 won’t do much against the culture of death, but that’s not really its aim. It will be a step away from the culture of sacrilege.
I hope other bishops, and perhaps even the cardinals draw strength and courage from Bishop Malone’s statement to come out publicly with a similar statement of their own. We need to unite around the Magisterium. As Bishop Malone demonstrates here, there are ways to oppose sin and error that are both strong and pastoral at the same time.
Bishop Malone stood up to a heap of vile abuse and even death threats (and that was just from Catholics!) when he led the opposition to same-sex marriage as Bishop of Portland, Maine. The pro-life people here, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, have tremendous respect for him. Lord send us faithful bishops!

Is there anyone who is certain that, even after such comments, the majority of cardinals and older bishops residing in the United States would unreservedly and gladly vote against poor deluded young Mr Cuomo in his next election campaign, either in New York or nationwide? I pray that such certainty might be plausible, but the evidence is not exactly resplendent.
I am proud of my Bishop! But disappointed in Card. Dolan for not responding (as metropolitan for all of NY).
Remember when Obama said that pro-lifers are trying to ‘take us back to the 1950’s’? Obama protege, Cuomo, with his segregationist talk, is the ONLY one doing that. Pro-lifers are the ones trying to bring us OUT of the 1850’s that liberals plunged us into with Roe v. Wade. Pro-lifers are trying to help society rise out of the ashes and into an age of peace and gentleness. The 1850’s like today, held on tightly to institutionalized slavery when slavery was the law of the land. They did this in spite of the victims it created while calling the anti-slavery people the same names we hear pro-lifers called: “religious zealots” . . . “theocrats” . . . “don’t like slavery, don’t own one” . . . “get your laws off my property” . . . etc. It took those courageous souls to speak for those without a voice and end slavery, just like today it’s taking courageous souls to speak for those without a voice to end abortion.
Kudos to this NY bishop for a balanced, well-reasoned statement free of bombast, hyperbole and indignation. The governor made a truly stupid statement. This was the best response I have heard thus far. I suspect the son is an embarrassment to the father who woul have never made such an intemperate statement. From the audio recording I wondered if Andrew was juiced?

Wait a minute. How many people actually saw this statement by Bishop Malone? What’s the context? It appears to be some crack o’ dawn religious television programming based on the credit at the end. Anybody?
And Cdl Dolan’s forum for his response is weak, too. His Sirius radio show? Call a press conference!

So is Bishop Malone “obsessed” in the view of the chief bishop? Should he be out kissing babies before cameras rather that get all hot and bothered over whether some get born or not? And if Cuomo is truly seeking God through his pro-abort heart, who are we to judge? Should the SSXP just get out of the church, like abortion advocates should get out of the state of New York, at least in Cuomo’s view?

I’m not much for such things either, but there are people who listen. IMHO, it’s like a priest shaking hands with everyone after mass. For me it’s a giant waste of time, even a bit of a pain in the neck (some priests seem offended if someone leaving mass circumvents it). There are people, however, who seem to think it’s a big deal.
One of my biggest complaint is that our Bishops and Priests do not speak out loud enough about evils in our society. I am glad that the Bishop did so here. I don’t blame the Bishop if this was not widely broadcast. I don’t look to the media to help Catholics.
I’ll feel as if I’m hearing a more consistent pro-life message when American hierarchs cease their relentless bawling for the outsourcing of “health” care to Holy Mother State.

Let me clarify what I mean. Cuomo is not being covert in stating that those who are prolife will have not room at the table for discussion. He is showing his true colors and saying get lost. You may be able to stay in NY but they are not going to listen to you. The Bishop’s response, let’s work together to not throw anyway anymore children, is going to do nothing, IMO, to challenge Cuomo’s aggressiveness against those who stand for life and truth. He is doing exactly what President Obama is doing.

So now that Fr. Pavone has straightened out his administrative problems within Priests For Life and has accepted accountability to the Archdiocese of New York, will Cuomo throw a fit and demand he remove himself to a state more tolerant of his kind?
Hey New Yorkers: there will be prayerful solidarity at the Rally for Life at the New York State Capital in Albany in March! Maybe Gov. Cuomo will make himself out of state that day rather than acknowledge that all children have a right to exist, even under Roe such as that horrible decision is. New Yorkers do not want the kind of expansion of abortion that he is currently peddling, and we’re going to continue to press on for the cause of all preborn children even if Gov. Cuomo tries to marginalize us. Let not New York State go down in history as the locus of a genocide. Be there!

I guess Gov. Cuomo threw a monkey wrench in Mayor De Blasio’s scheme to bring Pope Francis to New York. (The latter is hoping that the Holy Father, should he visit, will just talk about economic inequality and not abortion, contraception, and the morality of homosexual acts.)
Among themselves, liberals insist that the issues of abortion, contraception, and homosexual acts have been settled. But when engaged with the Church in some way, liberals then shift to say that people can disagree on these issues. This just means that Catholics who reject Church teachings on these issues should not be excommunicated, denied Holy Communion, denied speaking invitations or awards, or even publicly criticized.
Maybe a future prisoner will write an epic entitled “The Gulag AndrewCuomo.”

Does Gov. Cuomo’s new edict apply to his father, former Governor Mario Cuomo? In 1977, then Lt. Gov. Mario Cuomo ran for Mayor of New York City. He lost a tough primary and subsequent “run-off” contest (limited to the two top finishers in the primary if no candidate gets at least 40 percent of the vote) to Ed Koch. Instead of endorsing Koch, Cuomo decided to stay in the race, running on the third party Liberal Party ticket. During the campaign, “Vote for Cuomo Not the Homo” signs mysteriously appeared in many ethnic neighborhoods. To this day, the elder Cuomo continues to deny that he had anything to do with the signs, but Koch continued to accuse him until the end of his life.

Andrew Cuomo, Mario Cuomo, and the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan were all anti-life in one way or another. We know what Andrew is, and his dad Mario is basically a John Kerry-in-’04 on prenatal infanticide, more or less, with a little Ron Paul in there (at a stretch). Moynihan was pretty much mum on the issue until late in his career he voted against partial-birth abortion.
As many know, Sen. Kirstin Gillibrand (D-NY) is just like Chuck Schumer and Hillary — on the stump for the Margaret Sanger-types.
For those who don’t know, there’s another Cuomo who takes to the airwaves, Andrew’s brother Chris at CNN.
For the record, also, former NY Gov. George Pataki, a “Republican,” is also anti-life and was not ashamed to say so.
New York ranks consistently near or at the top of the abortion states in the country, and has for a long time. 75% of the African-American babies conceived in New York City are aborted, and Planned Parenthood is really fulfilling Margaret Sanger’s vision quite well there.
