Channeling stupid in Sweden

How foolish.

I am reminded of scenes from Lord Of The WorldVoyage To Alpha Centauri, The Children of Men (the book, not the dopey movie), Eclipse of the Sun (US HERE – UK HERE).

The Church of Sweden (Lutheran) has made a suicide pact with the world, the flesh and the Devil.  HERE (Not my translation):

A steering group within the Church of Sweden has for some time been working on developing a new church manual. This is considered to be should encourage “a more inclusive worship language”. [Google Translate version makes more sense than their brains.] God may now find himself deprived of his male gender – in the sermon referring to God as “he” or “the Lord” joins the new church handbook as a correction of misdemeanor.

[…]

But the proposals also have many advocates within the Swedish Church. The outcome of Thursday’s polls is therefore an open question. How it went, Archbishop Antje Jackelén will tell a press conference on Thursday. Jackelén has himself profiled himself as a renewer of the Swedish Church, among other things. by taking Islam’s creed “Allahu Akbar” as its language and emphasizing that Jesus of Christians should not be set higher than Islam’s prophet Muhammad.

Social excitement has not been able to figure out [Google can be amusing!] if there are corresponding proposals to make Jesus gender neutral and remove names like “he” and “human son” from the worship vocabulary. It is also unclear if there is a goal at the Swedish Church to implement the same gender changes in the Bible.

Fr James Martin, SJ, has not yet commented.

ICEL has not released its statement of support in accord with the new translation laws… yet.

The head of the Church in Sweden, Archbishop Antje Jackelén.

She looks rather like the grandmother of half the people I grew up with in Minnesota with a really bad hat.

I wonder how it’ll work out for well-paid (albeit under-employed) State “church” functionary Jackelén when she wanders down to her local mosque and asks, in a spirit of equality, tolerance, huggy-wugginess and fluffy bunnies, to officiate (or whatever they do) as an Imam, perhaps referring to Big M. as gender-neutral?

What could possibly go wrong, Sweden being such a tolerant place?

I pray and hope the King of Sweden reconciles himself and his realm to the one, true Church and the Vicar of Christ. Very, very soon would be nice.

“And when the Son of man shall come in his majesty, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty. [32] And all nations shall be gathered together before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left. [34] Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. [35] For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in:
[36] Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me. [37] Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink? [38] And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee? [39] Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee? [40] And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.
[41] Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels. [42] For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink. [43] I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you covered me not: sick and in prison, and you did not visit me. [44] Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? [45] Then he shall answer them, saying: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me.
[46] And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting.”

Some years back, I watched a film that I would recommend to anyone tempted to despair of the state of Lutherans: LETTERS TO FATHER JACOB. Watch it. Christ’s light can penetrate through even the northernmost darkness. As this film shows, God does not abandon any of His children.

Jaykay wrote of Mme. Jackelén: “to her local mosque and ask, in a spirit of equality, tolerance, huggy-wugginess and fluffy bunnies, to officiate . . . as an Imam, perhaps referring to Big M. as gender-neutral?

What could possibly go wrong, Sweden being such a tolerant place?”

Indeed. If the lady should undertake the mission you suggested, it is not improbable that an unforeseen accident might occur, resulting in blunt-force trauma and possibly bone fractures. The medical report would describe these injuries as, “. . . consistent with the patient having been beaten by several persons striking from multiple angles” . . . but Sweden being a politically correct place, those lines would be redacted, and the incident would be classified as “an accident.”

Scandinavian here. Deplorable indeed. Archbishop Antje Jackelén is however not Swedish, she is German and married to another German. Maybe she’s a relative of yours, Fr. ;-)!

[Could be. Minnesota: lots of Swedes, Norwegians and Germans.]

Well, I’m happy to report only 61,2% of the population of Sweden belong to the Lutheran church anymore.

The Catholic Church of Sweden increases by three to four percent every year. The Lutheran loses about one percent of its membership every year.

Father Zed, Every time I log on I have to re-set my password. I always re-set to the old one, but the system doesn’t accept it the next time.

I so appreciate the irony of these people rejecting God’s preferred gender pronouns.

“emphasizing that Jesus of Christians should not be set higher than Islam’s prophet Muhammad” – The Church of Sweden groaned and found itself Arian.

I have never understood why the libs are so eager to bend over backward for Islam when it violates just about everything they claim they believe in – tolerance, respect for women, etc. Unless it is their (the libs) hatred for true Christianity and therefore the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Like someone said before in Swedish, this is false news!

Here some correct info in English: https://www.svenskakyrkan.se/nyheter/fake-news-in-the-media-about-the-church-of-swedens-new-worship-book

It states that “Media has spread incorrect information in Sweden and internationally about the inclusive language of the new Worship Book, which has just been adopted by the General Synod.”

For those who actually are capable to read in Swedish, here you can learn correct information about the new liturgical material in the Church of Sweden: https://www.svenskakyrkan.se/kyrkohandboken .

I kindly ask us commentators that this is taken into consideration. Perhaps even the original article corrected with a link to the issued correcton? Otherwise I think 8th commandment is transgressed.

Sweden lost its soul during WW II when it was “neutral” but accommodated the Nazis. It has followed a path of convenience over principle ever since.
