This is one of most informative video clips I’ve yet seen about what’s going on at the southern border of these USA.
The bit about the Honduran woman learning about how to get to these USA through a TV commercial explains a lot. And it explains a lot about Honduras… and it probably explains a lot about the attitude of certain Honduran churchmen.
And the border agent said that they had intercepted people from 55 different countries. Meanwhile, while drug cartels force people to pay to get them to the border, while people are being pushed across in one place, they take advantage of an unguarded section to bring drugs across.
The population of a city like Orlando every couple of days. They wait 20 days and – bada bing – they are released into these USA, no longer a problem for their home countries’ social system.
What could possibly go wrong? Surely nefarious ne’er-do-wells would never take advantage of this porous border crisis to enter these USA for their opprobrious plots. Surely not.
Father,
There seems to be a problem with the link to the video.
Disregard
I’m not sure about this clip… maybe it was a need for time, but I am skeptical about the way they cut out the Honduran woman’s responses. Instead, we are treated only to the officer’s translation. For example, in the question about the expectations regarding the process, she started talking about an “entrevista”, i.e., an interview. The clip cuts to the officer talking about a “permiso”, something, I am guessing which only occurs at the end of the process. But this makes it look like there isn’t even a process, and it might even take advantage of the partial similarity between the words “permiso” and “entrevista” to English ears. I’m not saying the officer is wrong (some of his stuff might have also been cut out), but the editing from Fox and Friends could be deceptive.
[Nice try.]
The US Bishops are providing tens of millions of dollars in care, legal assistance, housing and food for migrants once they arrive.
The dollars for these services are provided by tax payers via Federal government grants for refugee and migrant care.
These grants are so large that they eclipse the donations made by Catholic faithful to the US Bishops for pastoral purposes.
One could say that the US Bishops have become primarily a tax payer funded migrant services organization that provides religious and pastoral services to Americans as a side job.
It sickens me how the US bishops connive at the destruction of law and order, undermining our system, and (ultimately) in ways that are not really even beneficial to the immigrants themselves so often.
President Trump has it right. Merit vs Welfare. These women with their children heard about the open borders on their TVs…….I feel sorry for them, but they need to go home and their government needs to care for them.
If I ran a drug cartel, I’d certainly be using some of my stacks of ill-gotten
cash to purchase the support of all the morally pliable American politicians
and leaders I could find. After all, a secure southern border would be terrible for
my business model. I think that would go a long ways towards explaining why
some of our politicians and ‘community organizers’ are so adamantly against
policing our borders, in defiance of all common sense, national security, the
rule of law and the express wishes of an overwhelming majority of the
American people.
One other thing– it’s obvious that a more secure southern border would make
it harder for human traffickers and drug cartels to do business. The USCCB has
issued numberless statements denouncing the evils of both groups– yet securing
the border is not something that group seems especially eager to promote. Why
would that be?
Yes, avemarya, this is a Fox clip with a Fox spin. CNN would have a different spin. God only knows the truth. As for the US Bishops, I’m grateful they are living their faith by helping the poor, the stranger, the refugee.
This clip doesn’t quite capture how bad it is on the border. I used to have a house in Yuma not so far from the border and I had an airstrip right on the border (one mile north, to be exact). I also visited other border towns in AZ for work.
The border is nothing short of a nightmare. The USCCB, which claims to be humane, is actively aiding and abetting human and drug trafficking. I couldn’t go to my airstrip unarmed, and invariably at least once a month someone would drive through the perimeter fence in order to pick up a load of drugs. One day we had a guy fly over the border in an ultralight. Bales of pot were mounted in pylons in the wings. As he flew over the USA he pulled a rope and the pylons dropped, except one, which sent him hurtling to the ground and killed him. At least he didn’t kill others.
I’m telling you from first hand experience that anyone who thinks that we do not have a serious national security and humanitarian crisis at the border is either profiting handsomely from organized crime or simply a complete dolt (“useful idiot”).
Catholics ought to run, not walk, away from romantic and sentimentalist nonsense that Trump, CBP and ICE are victimizing poor defenseless Mexican peasants who just want a good life. Not hardly. This is an international organized crime syndicate making billions from transporting and exploiting the poor from Central America. It is deeply immoral and those who support it are complicit in mortal sin.
“As for the US Bishops, I’m grateful they are living their faith…”
There’s a first time for everything, I guess.
What’s up at the border? It’s called an invasion…
A liberal Democrat friend lectured me on immigration last night. She said that thousands of immigrant children had been taken from their parents at the border and sent to foster care, but now the government can’t find them, so they can never be reunited with their parents. I searched the internet, but I can’t tell if that’s true, partly true or completely false. Can anyone shed light on this?
“As for the US Bishops, I’m grateful they are living their faith by helping the poor, the stranger, the refugee.” Jerome Charles 16 May 2019 at 7:43 PM
And in the process thumbing their collective noses at the actual teaching of the Church, yet again.
“Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.” Paragraph 2, Section 2241 Catechism of the Catholic Church (emphasis added for edification)
To a couple of those commenting here, I would say that you should live in a border town before you pass judgment on the reporting. It is as many have stated, an invasion and a nightmare going on! As for our dear bishops, well, I’ll stop now.
God bless you, Father Z. We must keep praying for our country, but I fear it will get worse before it gets better through God’s intervention.
I agree with your comment Clinton.
What is the Catholic Church doing to help the people in these countries flooding
our border—-in their own countries?
This is all about money.
Can someone please explain how it is that the bishops can be SO STUPID about this? It’s not hard, it’s not even sort of hard to figure out how this is hurting poor people, both those in the Latin American countries, and the migrants being urged to move here, as well as poor people already here. This is not difficult. How can bishops, who all have advanced degrees (generally Ph.D., theology licentiate, or canon law degrees), be DUMB enough to not figure this out?
Are they being bought by the cartels? That doesn’t make much sense. Are they being bought by politicians (i.e. money from government)? This too is kind of strange, since the money is just going to the immigrants and doesn’t benefit the bishop’s other pet projects – unless they are engaging in fraud by shifting the money to their own pockets, but how many bishops are there that would engage in such obviously nefarious deeds?
The only thing I can think that sort of, kind of answers is that the bishops are WHOLLY creatures of the left-liberal academia, bought and paid for, and (a) they can’t think for themselves to begin with, and (b) they have been trained to believe whatever the left-media feeds them, regardless of how incoherent and contrary to the evidence it is. If so, they are so completely engrossed in left-liberalism that they could not even by a stretch of the imagination be considered Catholic anymore – they wouldn’t even qualify as nominal Christians if it weren’t for the nominal Christians in the mainstream of liberalism of 70 years ago that staffed all of academia and thus taught the bishops their mantras. If this is the reason, then the answer is that we MUST stop taking new bishops who have been trained in our establishment academia, because they are so far from being Catholic that they can’t even grasp the difference. New bishops MUST be found from anti-establishment institutions that teach orthodox Catholicism, not liberalism.
The braceos program started in 1942 to address the issue of bringing in the crops when American boys were fighting WWII.
At that time the Catholic bishops were solidly against these immigrations and they destroy families….leaving children fatherless
*as they destroy families
