So Say We All

I am not sure if this relates to the campaign or not, but I found it interesting:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA TWO-HOUR SPECIAL EVENT SET TO AIR IN 2009

New York, NY – August 7, 2008 – SCI FI Channel today announced an all-new Battlestar Galactica special event, set to air in 2009 following the conclusion of the series and then released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly thereafter. Directed by series star Edward James Olmos and written by Battlestar Galactica’s Jane Espenson, the two-hour event will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of this summer. The cast includes Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas and Dean Stockwell, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting before the events of the miniseries, our story focuses on familiar characters including Cylon Number One, known as Cavil (Stockwell), Resistance Leader Sam T. Anders (Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Douglas). In the beginning, the Cylons had a plan, but it didn’t account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic aftermath of the destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on the human ships that got away, and among the resistance fighters who were left behind.

Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, Battlestar Galactica’s intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it unprecedented critical acclaim. In addition to winning a prestigious Peabody Award, the series has been honored as one of the 10 Outstanding Television Programs of the Year by the American Film Institute (AFI) for two years running. This year, the series was honored with six Emmy nominations, including a nod in the prestigious category for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Battlestar is also responsible for introducing the expletive “frak” into the pop culture lexicon.

The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick. The final 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica will begin airing on SCI FI Channel in 2009.

Silly, and really demeans the people you want to uplift.

This show (upcoming) would have been planned for months, and only the most clairvoyant could have conjured up what you think of as some sort of art imitates life or vise versa. The pair in the photo just look goofy, for the second time, I think you have way too much time on your hands. [Over the line.] We look for and need gravitas in our politicians, especially those younger and untested. There is the idea of just going too far for a joke.

There is enough asinine depictions and jabs at Ms. Palin without this sort of horse >>>> ‘With all due respect, dear Father.

Ok, cards and letters please, (not)! [Perhaps you should sit out for a while.]

Well, considering one of them is a TOASTER I would think twice before voting ;)

Anyway the series is great. The character development has achieved more in three seasons that the trekkie TNG didn’t in ages on the air. But what’s actually funny about this is, of course, the picture.

In character, Roslin and Tight… well, they don’t match much (consider that Tight loves the bottle a bit too much, while Roslin is dying of cancer) but it’s still funny to see them together.

  3. Manrique Zabala de Arízona says:

@ Gregory DiPippo: Does that mean you’re nicknaming the Pater Optimus Zee?? This is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off character. lol ;)

Thanks for the post, Father, you’re an endless box of surprises.

  4. Gregory DiPippo says:

    Manrique,
“Optime” as a term of address in an informal context is better than “care”, the vocative of “carus”, which is just a little cheesy in Latin. “Z”, not being a native letter to the Latin language, should probably be read outloud as “Zeta”.

    “Quid audis?”
    “Nil nisi pluviam.”

“Well, considering one of them is a TOASTER I would think twice before voting ;)”

BOTH of them may be toasters. We don’t know about Pal… er… I mean Roslin. lol

  6. Jacob says:

I hate to say it, but I think that BSG has gone the way of The X-Files and Babylon 5…

It was early on popular for its visual style and tight, gritty scripts and character development.

But now that it’s faced funding issues and is winding down (like Babylon 5’s final season), they’re trying to milk it with tack-on plots and movie events…

RDM and company, please… Finish the main story arc and then give it a rest before you kill it like they did Star Trek.

  7. Gregory: ROFL!

    “Sclopetum sume inferque felem!”

  8. Louis E. says:

Again this heretical embrace of the Novus Ordo Galactica!

The Adamavacantist orthodoxy has never been more needed, and woe upon those who misspell “frack”.

  9. Legisperitus says:

    Louis E–

By my recollection, the word was spelled “frak” even in 1978– certainly, at least, in the Marvel Comics series. (I never did read Glen Larson’s novels… too tedious and print too tiny.)

But apart from that, keep the flame burning for tradition and don’t let the modernist felgercarb get you down!
