Request of prayers for a new bishop: Most Rev. Lee Piché

In your charity, will you please pray for a friend of mine?

Pope Benedict XVI has appointed the Most Reverend Lee Piché as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

    Of course.

  2. Father Piche is (was) the Pastor of my parish, St. Andrew. I’m not surprised. I knew he was destined for elevation to the purple. He’s a great priest and a very kind man. He always wants to wait on people-the very definition of a life of service. Solid Catholic. Very self-deprecating. Known for howlingly bad jokes-LOL!

This is tremendously great news! I’m sad, for purely selfish reasons, to lose him to the greater good.

  3. Most Excellent Sledgehammer says:

Any friend of Father Z is bound to be a superb bishop!

  4. irishgirl says:

Will do-just read it on the EWTN website.

As the Sledgehammer said-any friend of Fr. Z’s is bound to be a good Bishop!

  5. Fr. Daniel Haugan says:

As a university student and seminarian I had been taught well by Bishop-elect Piche. As a priest I have been fortunate to work along side this servant of God many times. We are blessed here in the Archdiocese Today.

More and more friends of Fr. Z are being made Bishops. I think it says two things- there is great hope for the Church in the US- and- Fr. Z will be given the mitre one day! :)

  7. joe says:

Mitre? I’m praying he receives a red hat!

Father, I will offer up my Angelus for H.E.

    AMDG,

  8. Justin in Ohio says:

Thank for the note, Fr. Z. I will keep him in my prayers.

Hopefully, the new auxiliary bishop will have the courage (along with the Archbishop) to continue to fix some of the liturgical abses going on in many Twin City area “progressive” parishes (many of which are well known).

If he’s a friend of yours, I’m sure he focuses on the clear teachings of the Church, the liturgy, and the Holy Eucharist as the source and summit of our existence.

  9. Tom says:

He sounds to be a very good man. May Our Lord richly bless his work.

On a slightly flippant note, if one was offering Mass in Latin, what would be the Latin for ‘Lee’? It’s not a name one finds among the clergy where I come from. Is it a derivative of Leo, perhaps?

  10. Rancher says:

Score one more for the good guys. Prayers said.

Prayers sent- Congratulations to the Bishop-elect.

    Semper Fi!

  12. Supertradmom says:

May the Blessed Virgin Mary protect and guide him all the days of his life.

  13. James Todd says:

Fr. Piche’s 25th anniversary as a priest was yesterday. I wonder if he was notified on that day? What a great blessing to have Fr. Piche in the ranks of the episcopacy. Fr. Piche is a fried of the family and gave the homily at our wedding Mass. They don’t come any better than this.

I couldn’t be happier! He is a great man, great priest and a great confessor too! God is truly supplying shepherds for his flock! don Jeffry

    what would the Argentines think?

  16. Maureen says:

“Lee” is a last-name name. Generally, it’s derived from “lea/leah”, Old English for meadow.

  17. ED says:

All these Bishop-Appointees come across as great guys ,very spiritual, etc etc etc. I’ll wait till a pro-abortion politician walks up to him for Communion or when he meets an Anglican, Evangelical ,Jew, Muslim and whether he tells them there is NO SALVATION OUTSIDE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. Thats where you separate the MEN from the BOYS. It’s nice you guys got an emotionally pleasing pick ,now we shall see.
