Your BirdZ photos always make me smile :) Thank you,Fr.

  2. Sandy says:

I agree with Immaculatae exactly!! The Indigo Bunting is incredible. This beauty created by God is a reflection of His beauty; that’s why it moves me so much! How can anyone see all this and not believe in an awesome Creator?

  3. Clara says:

I dunno. I’m all in favor of living off the land, but once you plucked all the feathers off, I doubt you’d get more than a few mouthfuls out of it. And it’d be a shame to eat such a pretty bird. :)

  4. Eric says:

I’ve been hearing “eat eat hear, eat hear… hear eat” in my woods over the last few days and couldn’t see what was calling. I saw him this morning, a Baltimore Oriole just like the one in your picture.

  5. Eric says:

“eat eat here” would probably be a better translation

  6. irishgirl says:

Clara-I don’t ‘eating the bird as a snack’ was what Fr. Z had in mind.

The bird is HAVING a snack-and it looks like half an orange!

It’s a Baltimore Oriole! I love your birdie pics, Father!

  7. Sandy says:

p.s. I meant the Indigo Bunting from a couple of days ago, of course. (Everyone knows indigo is blue.) They are all so precious. Keep ’em coming, Father, and thank you.

  8. Thelma says:

    Father,
My Baltimore orioles steadfastly refuse to eat either oranges or grape jelly. They eat suet (plain, unflavored) and whatever bugs they find. Are they the progressives and dissenters of the bird world? Or the traditionalists?

  9. Clara says:

I got it, Irishgirl. I’m sure Fr. Z doesn’t eat his buntings. But the effect was still amusing to me. Given how often Fr. Z posts pictures of things that he’s prepared for *himself* to eat, I clicked on that post (in my RSS reader) expecting to see a picture of a people snack. And this was what I saw.

  10. I saw three male Indigo Buntings today! I wonder… never mind.
