Father, I’m jealous of your goldfinches. I have too many neighborhood kitties to put out feeders, it seems too much like a cruel joke. But I do plant flowers with them in mind. One year I had them visiting my Echinacea, but they didn’t come back the next year, even though I expanded the offering. I don’t have a proper spot for black-seeded sunflowers, one of their favorites. Hopefully, this year the Monarda and the Lantana will bring in the hummingbirds. They certainly draw the butterflies.
Father, I love the photos of the birds. They’re one of God’s greatest creations!
hello Fr. Z. I Love your blog, the thing that drew me at first was the pictures of birds. I wish you would have gotten a pic of the indigo bunting too! One day there was a whole flock of 20 or so of turquoise buntings at our feeder!
The closeup of the grosbeak is funny, Father…he looks like he’s saying, ‘You talkin’ to ME?’
Love them birdie pics!
Sarah–That’s amazing. A flock of Indigo Buntings? I’ve only seen them one or two at a time. The first time I saw one, I thought it was some kind of parakeet that had escaped. I don’t know how anyone can look at them, or butterflies, or the flowers that attract them, and still be an atheist.
