Well, I see some of my favorites fr New Fortune. The dim sum is amazing and a lively fun place. Are the soup dumplings still on the dim Sum menu? they r not actually “soup dumplings” they are called “pork bun dumpling” I think I remember. When you get them and bite into them, soup broth fills your palate with something “other worldly”. You actualy have to eat them on the chinese flat spoon…. time for a road trip back home to DC…

    Enjoy!!

So nice to see you out with friends having a good time and, from the looks of it, good food. I want a dumpling!

Not nice…some of us are dieting this year. :-)

Gosh, but that looks good! I haven’t had dim sum for years. I used to go to LA’s Chinatown with friends from work, one of whom spoke Cantonese and did all of the ordering. The rest of us were never entirely sure what we were getting.

    No chicken feet?!? LOL.

OK, what is that stuff in the 4th picture down?

Looks like a snowball in a wet brown paper bag.

  7. Sandy says:

Is that Father Trigillio again? Wow, two wonderful priests in one place. The food looks delicious!

  8. wanda says:

Susan..I was afraid to ask, but I wondered what that is, too.

“Snowball in a wet paper bag”? Looks like a sticky rice ball to me, wrapped in bamboo leaves. Dragon Boat Festival is coming up, and that’s a traditional food for it: they’re called zongzi and have fruit inside, or other things like egg, sweet bean paste, or meat. I think at Dim Sim restaurants they serve them year-round though.

Thanks for joining us for Sunday brunch and some Dim Sum. It was a honor and privilege for me and my physician friends, Drs. Keith & Christina Burkhart. God bless you. And keep up the great work on the Blog and in your travels. Hope you have a safe trip home and look forward to seeing you in the area in the near future. Maybe the Nuncio will call you soon to be our next Bishop of Harrisburg?

    Fraternally,

    Fr T

Looks pretty good, though I don’t eat Chinese food on a normal basis….I’d be afraid of eating dog meat!

Yes, that does look like Father Trigilio in one of the photos!

    Fr. Z,

New Fortune is a busy place. I’ve been there on weekends and has alway been packed. You were just a few minutes away from the parish were I attend Mass when I’m in the area, St. Martin de Tours in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Congratualtions on your wonderful commentary during last Sunday’s Mass.

Irishgirl, dog meat is not part of the dim sum menu :)
