It is the break between WS6 inning 9 and inning 10.
A shot taken today from the feeder: the first male Cardinal I have seen in weeks.

“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

Oh my goodness, what is the score?..I am scouring the Net for news…
I think MLB will have live updates. But it is rather exciting. I suppose I could temporarily grant SlingBox access… but … I use it on the road.
Thanks, I am now on the MLB site.
Go Cards….
I couldn’t watch any more. Had to turn off Joe Buck. Listening to KMOX. Surprised and anxious, anxious, anxious! Get rid of Holliday and we start hitting. Yeah!
I hope your cardinal is a good omen.
This is a great game…
I just found this MLB Gameday site. Several of the players are from my hometown team, the River Bandits, of Davenport, Iowa. Go, Cards…http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/index.jsp?sid=t565
David Freese. Hometown hero! He is STL native and was NLCS MVP. God’s team, I tell ya!
See ya tomorrow.
I guess the telephone in the dugout/bullpen communication could be heard tonight. Yeah, Cardinals…
I have never seen a game like that! Probably never will again. That has to be one for the history books.
ite, cardinales!
Awesome game! Totally worth the way I’ll be dragging at work this afternoon.
P.S. to Fr. Z — we’ve had the most amazing year for cardinals (the feathered ones) here in south Texas. Lots of them, all the time.
Heard they’re going for game 7, enough already! I have a BIG problem with “men” who run bases (or shoot hoops, or spike footballs), for mega-millions of dollars each year. How hard are you working for that money??
That little cardinal looks like he’s talking to you! He should come to PA; he’ll look dazzling in tomorrow’s snow, have mercy!
Best. Game. Ever.
Hello Fr. Z,
It might well have been a sign.
I recall a friend who found a dead cardinal on his front walk the morning of Game 6 in 1985 (the infamous Denkinger fiasco). I’m relieved to see that yours was alive and well (and magnificently red).
That was an exhausting game to watch.
That glorious-looking cardinal at your feeder must have been a sign, Father Z! [ducks]
I heard part of the game on the radio while trying to fall asleep in a house with no heat, but switched it to an FM station which I usually listen to overnight.
Then I heard the final score (and what led up to it), and I was jarred awake!
Heard some of the highlights before I got up, on a local sports station that is affiliated with ESPN.
Wow! What an ending!
Bet there were a lot of groggy fans going to work and / or school with laryngitis or sore throats from all the yelling and screaming they did at the game!
Game 7 is going to be a hard act to follow!
‘Ite, Cardinales’, quoth jonesmj1!
Excellent game. Although I live in Texas and am a Ranger’s Fan, I still get choked up watching the joy from the winning team. All the players work so hard.
Just as the 8th inning was over here, the electricity went out in our area. Instead of getting upset I dashed for batteries to put in a radio and lit candles so I could see where I was going. As soon as the 9th inning was over, on came the TV and lights. I figure God was testing our patience. I can’t wait to see what happens tonight.
God bless him, but I sure hope that Alexi Ogando doesn’t pitch tonight. When Wash put him in last night, that is when the game took a turn against the Rangers.
Am I the only one here who had wanted Texas to win?
Denita –
No, you weren’t.
Just woke up to find out the Cardinals have won the World Series. Wow! Talk about “come back kids.” My whole family will be so happy. I did not see any of it, and the last time I was at a game was in 2004. However, I am glad and really wished I could have seen some of it. Go, Cards, in 2012.
