Finally! I understand what Cinco de Mayo celebrates!
Well, it is a holiday among Latin-Americans!
[But it is a holy-day for other reasons.]
This evening Father Reid of St.Anne’s Catholics Church in Charlotte celebrated a Solemn High Mass and for this glorious feast St. Anne’s featured the music of the Carolina Catholic Chorale and Orchestra who sung Antonio Caldara’s Mass in A. This rare treat of Caldara’s music is not in print and it was said that this was the first time it was sung in centuries. The music was re-created by Carolina Catholic Chorale and it was awe inspiring . It’s inconceivable to me how anyone who claims to be Catholic would prefer N.O to TLM?
I’ve never been to Wisconsin and see no reason to start now. [Aren’t you just the charmer?]
Fortunately, Fr F celebrated a sung mass on Ascension Thursday in Margate, after which I repaired to the London Tavern, an establishment I’ve been anxious to try since he plugged it on his blog. And having been there now, I second his plug.
