Assuming he knows, is there not a chance he will consider this as using a Mass as a weapon against him?
Just askin’…
Amen to your Holy Mass for him, Fr. Z! “Behold, I make all things new!”, Jesus told us.
I’ve known Franciscans who actually love God and the Church. Too bad Fr Horan is not among them. Prayers for his repentance and conversion.
Fr Z that’s a wonderful idea!
NOCatholic, Fr Horan loves who-he-thinks-God-is and what-he-thinks-the-church-is, as do so many of my catholic friends. There is much confusion, and prayer and fasting is the best for this spiritual war.
It’s like when I had lunch with a highly educated, devout Dominican nun (not the habit wearing kind), and somehow in our conversation communion in the hand came up. I explained to her, probably 10 years my senior, why I will never receive communion in my hands. She clasped her hands, sighed deeply, looked at me sadly and sad, “You don’t know MY Jesus!”
And I don’t. I’m not a nun. I chose a married life. But I know the almighty God of the Old Testament is God today. I know the Angel of Fatima prostrated itself before the Holy Eucharist and taught the three shepard children to receive communion on the tongue kneeling, I know Catholics for 2,000 years DIED rather than profane the Eucharist.
Vatican II was not intended to change anything, but it let modernism in. Our children are leaving in droves, or staying, worshiping some god of “if it feels right it must be okay”. Thought has left the building.
No, I don’t have a relationship with felt banner hippie Jesus of Kumbaya, I pray fervently to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Blessed Mother of God. Jesus, the second Person of the Holy Trinity, who showed us how to live, Who told the woman, “Go and sin no more”.
We need more Masses prayed! This morning the scripture on the Laudate app took me to the USCCB website. The mission statement of the USCCB:
“(USCCB’s) mission is to encounter the mercy of Christ and to accompany His people with joy.”
THAT is their mission? “Accompany His people with joy?” To where? Hell? What happened to the mission of the Catholic Church is the salvation of souls?
Thank you again Father Z for praying for Father Horan. I will pick up my weapon and pray the sorrowful mysteries for him, too.
May they all have a road to Damascus moment.
