A fascinating photo in the Aldobrandini Room of the Doria Pamphilj Gallery in the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj of (according to their website) “a large coloured marble sculpture of a Centaur from the Antonine era, rediscovered in one of the family residences in Albano in the mid-19th century” – looking as if he is expressing his intention to ride of into a landscape I have not been able to identify, rather than a less distant more populous scene, which I have also not managed to identify.
