Regardless of who the Pope is, can you imagine being the priest who hears the Pope’s confession? I know priests are supposed to put personal feelings aside and that we are all the same in the confessional, but I can’t help but feel like this would be like a buck private hearing a 5 star general’s errant deeds and the buck private would be expected to dole out the general’s penance! Pretty incredible responsibility indeed!

sjoseph371, it’s worth noting that the confessor is also obliged to do penance for those whose confessions he has heard! (cf. CCC 1448, ” . . . also prays for the sinner and does penance with him.”)
