New “DUBIA” Submitted to Francis about the Synodality (“walking togetherity”), same-sex blessings, ordination of women, shifting doctrine

UPDATE: See below….

New “dubia”, technical questions, have been submitted to Francis by FIVE cardinals, two of them the previous “Dubia Brothers”.

Cardinal Burke’s site: HERE

I predicted this last August. I was also sure about four of the signatories, but one I didn’t guess.

  • Walter Cardinal Brandmüller
  • Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke
  • Juan Cardinal Sandoval Íñiguez
  • Robert Cardinal Sarah
  • Joseph Cardinal Zen Ze-kiun

It is VERY IMPORTANT that Card. Zen signed this.

What happened. The submitted dubia to Francis on 10 July 2023. Francis responded – no – answered on 11 July 2023! Francis did not respond clearly to the questions. They submitted reformulated dubia on 21 August 2023. The reformulated dubia can be answered with a simple “yes” or “not”.

They have not received an answer or responses from Francis.

Therefore, the new Dubia Cardinals are making their dubia public.

Notification to Christ’s Faithful (can. 212 § 3) Regarding Dubia Submitted to Pope Francis

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We, members of the Sacred College of Cardinals, in accord with the duty of all the faithful “to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church” (can. 212 § 3) and, above all, in accord with the responsibility of Cardinals “to assist the Roman Pontiff … individually … especially in the daily care of the universal Church” (can. 349), in view of various declarations of highly-placed Prelates, pertaining to the celebration of the next Synod of Bishops, that are openly contrary to the constant doctrine and discipline of the Church, and that have generated and continue to generate great confusion and the falling into error among the faithful and other persons of good will, have manifested our deepest concern to the Roman Pontiff. By our letter of July 10, 2023, employing the proven practice of the submission of dubia [questions] to a superior to provide the superior the occasion to make clear, by his responsa [responses], the doctrine and discipline of the Church, we have submitted five dubia to Pope Francis, a copy of which is attached. By his letter of July 11, 2023, Pope Francis responded to our letter.

Having studied his letter which did not follow the practice of responsa ad dubia [responses to questions], we reformulated the dubia to elicit a clear response based on the perennial doctrine and discipline of the Church. By our letter of August 21, 2023, we submitted the reformulated dubia, a copy of which is attached, to the Roman Pontiff. Up to the present, we have not received a response to the reformulated dubia.

Given the gravity of the matter of the dubia, especially in view of the imminent session of the Synod of Bishops, we judge it our duty to inform you, the faithful (can. 212 § 3), so that you may not be subject to confusion, error, and discouragement but rather may pray for the universal Church and, in particular, the Roman Pontiff, that the Gospel may be taught ever more clearly and followed ever more faithfully.

Yours in Christ,

THE SIGNATORIES

It has been almost exactly seven years since the first set of dubia. So Francis has seven years to ignore this latest set!

  2. acardnal says:

Remember that photo of lightning striking the Basilica of St. Peter’s twice on February 12, 2013 after Pope Benedict XVI resigned hours earlier? And the black crows and seagull attacking the white dove in St. Peter’s piazza?

  3. SeelDad says:

Does anyone really expect these Dubia to be answered? I don’t like being “Mr. Cynical” but I’m not holding my breath. I guess this is really more an exercise of documenting current concerns for posterity’s sake than actually getting answers.

  4. JustaSinner says:

Would’ve been more succinct and to the point if they’d have asked him when the exorcism and reconsecration of Saint Peter’s Basilica was to occur to wipe the stain of the dark one’s idol.

  6. Peetem says:

Given in this era of trust people have in the media, they won’t trust something unless its reported (by the media). Otherwise it isn’t true.

Francis will ignore this Dubia, and by ignoring it, it never happened. Nothing to see here. Move along. Just like how people ignore all the corruption in government – its not reported, so it didn’t happen.

Thankfully I (at 85) can still remember when we had ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC & APOSTOLIC Church rather than the hotch potch we have at present. I read that if priests continue to bastardise the words of consecration Christ will no longer make Himself present in the bread & wine at Holy Mass. God save us all

I view this as a sign of hope. I know the deck has been stacked etc, but I think these signatories are not alone. For whatever reasons, others may have shied away or for politicking etc. This gives me hope for the next conclave. I really do not know, but I surmise that others in the College are watching. Eijk, Muller, Woelki, Erdo, Duka, Bozanic, I’d even say Dolan, O’Malley, DiNardo and many from Africa perhaps? Let’s wait and see. We will win the long game. Christ will straighten this out. The sadness lies in those who fall in the confusion. Let us pray for a true Shepherd Pope.

Something along the lines of “…a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes…”, perhaps.

No, I don’t think that schism is (or should be) imminent…regardless, it’s always a good practice to make absolutely clear that one did everything that could be done within channels.

Akin to dealing with a petulant child. It’s good to know there are still adults in the room.

“It is VERY IMPORTANT that Card. Zen signed this.”

    Why?

  13. Saint Rocco the Trubador says:

God Bless these five Cardinals! It’s disheartening that the Pontiff has not responded to these questions with much needed clarity. I am seriously concerned about the so-called “Together for Togetherity” confab this month in Germany.

I prayed the rosary every day during the Saint Michael’s Lent (Aug 15-Sep 29), did the Saint Michael Novena leading up to his Feast Day on 9/29, and attended mass that Feast Day morning, as well as said the Saint Michael Chaplet.

Oct 4-29 is the Synod on Synodality in Germany. October has many important dates in the Church that are of great importance:

    * Oct 2 – Feast of the Guardian Angels
    * Oct 4 – Feast of St Francis of Assisi
    * Oct 13 – 106th Anniversary of the Last Message from Our Lady of Fatima, and the 50th Anniversary of the Third Message from Our Lady of Akita
    * Oct 18 – 62nd Anniversary of the First Message of Our Lady of Garabandal, and the 45th Anniversary of the election of Pope Saint JPII
    * Oct 22 – The Feast Day of Pope Saint JPII
    * Oct 24 – Feast Day of Saint Raphael the Archangel

Much praying and fasting is needed!

  15. Cornelius says:

I am angry beyond words, but I’ll post anyway.

We are at this juncture because the Cardinals en masse have been whistling past the graveyard of Francis’s manifest inclinations towards heresy, heresy that will breed schism.

Stupid, knuckle-dragging, pew-dwelling Catholics like myself could see from the first year of this “pontificate” where this was headed. This man will conform the Church to his personal ideology or he will split it – and he doesn’t care at all. He’d be happy to split it.

I feel the same frustration I felt in studying the outbreak of WWII. Leaders in Britain and France were cowards and would not confront Hitler, hoping against hope that they’d have “peace in our time”. Had they forcefully confronted him in his early aggressions, WWII might have been avoided. But no, they wanted peace at any price, just like the cowards in the Church now who want “unity” at any price (as if unity with these heretics is even a possibility). And what did they get? They got war, and the death of millions . . . many of them non-combatants.

This is war now, and has been since 2013, though only perhaps now are we seeing the first whiff of grapeshot.

  16. Mike says:

I am not a prophet; not even a picker of figs.

But I “predict” the next conclave will give us a solid, CATHOLIC pope. Hold on to your hat. It’s gonna be a rough ride to that.

(For the record: I predicted DJT’s win in 2016 during the summer of 2015.)

  17. Major media outlets like the NYT are now reporting that Pope Francis is relaxing the Church’s stance on same-sex blessings. It shows that even they can understand the messaging of this pontificate while the liberal Catholic news sites try to gaslight the faithful and insist nothing is changing.

  18. Kathleen10 says:

In Rome, this is surely enjoyable. Nothing better enjoyed than a big kerfuffle with Francis at the center. What will Francis say, what will Francis DO, it’s all so invigorating. For them. I think we already have a sneak peak, and it’s not good, but that’s expected.
Abp. Vigano released a response video worth seeing. If I am understanding correctly, it was pulled from being shown at a Catholic conference where it was supposed to be shown. The rubber is hitting the road now. Time for us all to pick a team, apparently. I took a poll, and at our house we’re going to stick with Jesus.

  19. aegsemje says:

I am confused. Was it Pope Francis who responded, or was it the new Cardinal Fernandez?
