Fishwrap and Pelosi. What a pair.

Fishwrap says that Pelosi appealed to Rome regarding Archbp. Cordileone’s application of can. 915 in her regard as a scandalous recalicitrant public supporter of abortion.

Cordileone notified Pelosi in a public letter that stated: “You are not to present yourself for Holy Communion and, should you do so, you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion, until such time as you publicly repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of Penance.”

She has simply defied him, and continued to receive Communion, apparently in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Fishwrap and Pelosi. What a pair.

Anyone who lets you do whatever you want with no regard to your spiritual, moral, or physical well being doesn’t actually care about you.

Such people often claim that they do care about you, but in reality, they only care about what they can get out of you. They don’t actually care about you.

It seems the USCCB is useless and should be disbanded. It’s not a historic entity and one could ask what good do they do. The bishops seem less interested in the faith and the flock than they once did, and obviously getting together as a group has not advanced the care of either. In fact, it would be easy to argue the bishops are far, far more interested now in immigration schemes and bringing in more foreign people to native shores than at any point in history, which is a moneymaker for them. The people can see this. I’m old enough to remember when bishops NEVER talked about how critical it was to fill all western nations with new people from other lands and how rotten we were not to care and share. Imagine that, bishops talking a lot about matters pertaining to Christ, Our Lady, devotions, the Holy Eucharist, the Liturgy, heaven, hell, judgment, and not about mercy, inclusion, and immigration ad nauseam.
However. we respect the office. Whatever she decides to do regarding Holy Communion, she very well may get a pass from Francis, it depends on how much he dislikes the archbishop, but trying to humiliate a bishop is a bad idea. She acts as if she has God in her back pocket.

If it’s a priest in his Archdiocese doesn’t he have recourse for going against him? Clearly Ms. Pelosi thinks she’s above the law, whether civil or spiritual. Remember we must not relish when the consequence of her actions comes due. In the meantime, we must pray for her.

The astonishing thing is that she is a lot more reasonable than the Pope on the Vatican-China deal. From a recent CWR article: “Let me say it this way: ‘Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,” Pelosi said. “Every bishop has sprung from that rock. And now, the Chinese government?”

I don’t get it. If we are to take her at her word, Ms. Pelosi’s “Catholic faith is, Christ is [her] savior[…]It has nothing to do with the bishops.” If no bishop is required, what’s the point of appealing to one who is, at bottom, simply a different bishop? Surely that contradicts her “Me and Jesus” approach?

    Yes.

Sad to say, but Pelosi just fell down a flight of stairs and broke her hip. Update…Just had a hip replacement. That is major surgery and recovery.
If I was her…I would be runing to Archbishop Cordileone. Or in her case, going as fast as that wheelchair can take her. God help her.

  9. EAW says:

I’m wondering, can her refusal to submit to the authority of her bishop be considered a schismatic act?
