  1. White to move and mate in two. How fast can you do it?

[NB: I’ll hold comments with solutions ’till the next day so there won’t be “spoilers” for others.]

    Funny

Magnus, 34, is getting married. Not to Nepo, however.  About time.   The bride is Ella Victoria Malone, 26, who is a Norwegian-American who grew up in Singapore.  Unlike Hikaru’s bride, she isn’t a chess player.

    January FIDE ratings are out.  Guess who is #1 with 2831.  # Fabi (2803) #3 Hikaru (2802) #4 Arjun (2801) #5 Gukseh (2777). #6 Nodirbek (2768) #7 Puer (2763) #8 Nepo #9 Wei Yi (2751) #10 Vishy (2750) #11 Levon (2747) #12 Wesley (2727).

#10 Anand is still in the ranking, though he is pretty clearly out of contention at top level.  But his rating keep him high enough to push Levon and Wesley down.  He did play in the London Masters in October.
