I always went for cassata (especially in Sicilia), stracciatella, or pistacchio. So much better than any other kind of ice cream. Gelato is one of Italy’s great gifts to the world!

I feel like something like bishops admitting homosexuals into seminaries would have been a massive scandal in 2015, but ten years later, it’s just another day in the Catholic Church during this pontificate.
It makes sense, however. How else would they secure their legacy? All young seminarians are at least conservative. Any young seminarian who is liberal can immediately be considered homosexual or nursing some other disordered passion.
Great, so the homosexual acts of the Seminarians will let the imps and demons in the back door…whatever could go wrong ???
Let’s take young men who are same sex attracted and put them into an environment where they are with other young men 24/7 what could go wrong?
That’s a kind of confusion I could live with. Getting a cone of pistacchio and stracciatella at a good Italian ice cream parlour has always been a summertime treat to me.

I thought think that has been in theory the position for several decades. And I don’t find that confusing, what is confusing is that they haven’t been practicing what they were preaching. When my wife was teaching in a seminary around the turn of the millennium she was troubled to see seminarians openly having lovers’ tiffs without evident rebuke. And my impression is that what Pope Francis was condemning was overtly homosexualist behaviour.
I do think that with the general social shift away from the condemnation of sodomy it is probably more difficult now to maintain chastity.
