ROME 26/10-11 – Day 32: All Saints

ROME 26/10-11 – Day 32: All Saints

For this 305th day of the calendar year, the Feast of All Saints – which bumps the Sunday though in the Vetus Ordo it gets a commemoration (something the Novus Ordo does not have) the sun rose over Rome at 06:40.

It set at 17:07 while we were singing 2nd Vespers, a rather long affair tonight because at the Magnificat all 8 of the side altars (including those in the transepts) were to be incensed.

The 17:30 Ave Maria Bell cycle is still indicated for the Curia.

Thus we begin the month dedicated to prayers for the dead.

Before Vespers we had a solemn exposition of the sacred relics which The Parish lovingly guards.   I made videos from two directions of the whole thing and, along with some still photos, hope to get it edited together soon.   There is, by the way, in the traditional calendar, coming up a Feast of Holy Relics.

This morning many of the relics were on the St. Matthew altar in the transept, ready for the afternoon.

Getting a deacon ready for Mass this morning.  Rather like how they dress astronauts.

I just got a photo from The World’s Best Sacristan™ who is setting up altars for tomorrow morning when priests will be able to celebrate THREE Requiem Masses (but only keep one stipend).
