I was in full contact Taekwondo for years, and fencing (epee).
I think seminarians should be schooled in cooking, sewing, basic electrician repair, etc., and martial arts.
It’s synodal! It’s in … Vatican II! I don’t repost this because of the writer’s shot at Leo. Try to have a brain.
A priest in Africa explains to non-Christians that they must not disturb Holy Mass. He demonstrated more devotion to Jesus in ten seconds than Pope Leo has shown in a year and a half. pic.twitter.com/QQdA6dahzu

Am I wrong?
(Not to mention CC training, which teaches all manner of helpful things about situational awareness and de-escalation.)

As someone who has practiced martial arts, off and on, for the past 35 years, I strongly concur.
It teaches respect for violence. It teaches grace in movement. It teaches confidence and humility. And, most importantly, it helps bring out certain masculine traits that are, ahem, lacking in many priests I encounter now-a-days. Surely any priest who’s had to hold his own in a sparring match against a brute twice his size and lived to tell the tale might start to develop some serious gumption.
And also concur about the CC training if for nothing else than developing a keen sense of situational awareness.
I was struck by a couple of things in the short video: the protection of the priest by his people, and ALSO, all the ladies in DRESSES, nice attire! God bless these countries and Catholics who are attacked and murdered for loving the true God!
How was the guy disturbing Mass? I think we need to know the context. Also if Mass is going on, I don’t understand why the priest left the altar area in the middle of Mass. I think there is a deeper backstory here that is being missed.
Rabbi’s around the world are trying with fire arms.
I have known a few Priest who were licensed to carry.
@Not , my nearby orthodox synagogue (a friend who was an actual factual descendant of A’haron was there until he moved out of town to be closer to grandkids) has a sizeable contingent of armed guards. prudent.
i need to train up more on my viking axe, my sabre (mainly used to open and close an otherwise inaccessible window!), and my 10 gauge. i also should invest in a halberd. being partially Swiss, i am hopeful for muscle memory from a few generations back. :-) to my eyes, the halberd seems like an amazing defensive weapon,
From the vesture of the priest I would guess him to be an Anglican.
@William Tighe:
That was my first thought as well. But, as many of us here know, African Anglicans are an entirely different breed than the trainwreck in slow motion known as the CofE.
If the gentleman gently escorted to the door really was disturbing the service (there is no context offered), kudos to this (presumably Anglican) priest. I do not approve of the cheap shot at the Holy Father, though.
Security during a Traditional Mass offers a different angle with ad Orientem. The faithful need to be alert and willing to act .
Disrespect is never virtuous. That is the entirety of my thought on the matter. Much of the time I lose quite a bit of the joy I am blessed to have because of the bickering that is so prevalent on this blog. You don’t have to like the man, but continued disrespect of the man can only lead to disrespect for the office itself.
Are you gonna punch me, Father? When will I bear the brunt of Godly wrath at the hands of a Krav Maga Cleric? It is said that martial arts specialize in turning the tables on an attacker, using their own attacks against them.
There were times in my childhood when I would make a snarky or rude comment, and then trip and fall on my face, and my mother, the lector, would triumphantly remark “God Gotcha!!” without lifting a finger.
Therefore, any cleric initiating a defensive maneuver should prayerfully sing Psalm 57, for many reasons, and so the faithful may be forewarned to take cover.
