What I want to know is…where on earth did he get an umbrella strong enough to do that?

It’s got some issues related to Newton’s 1st law. Although there would be a force on the umbrella from air hitting it, this would be opposed by the force generated by the leaf blower in the opposite direction. I suspect he is just coasting in all the clips.

Here’s Mythbusters trying the same basic principle on a larger scale, but with a little more complex results, since they got very slight forward motion. I would venture to guess that in their case, the large sail redirected air backwards, like the thrust reversers on an airplane.

That could happen with the umbrella and mop bucket, too, but a few hints in the video, including the relatively significant speed make me suspect instead he is spoofing it.

Definitely a violation of one of Newton’s Laws of Motion. But I gather, like Bugs Bunny, he never studied law.

It’s not the same bucket that he dumps the water out of. A mop bucket wheels would never function that well or long with the load, speed and terrain. The bucket is swapped with one that is mounted on a electric skateboard. The leaf blower keeps the umbrella from collapsing in the oncoming wind but adds zero thrust.

I hope he’s got a licence and insurance for that!
