Just 3 weeks and 2 days until we embark on Michael Voris’ Retreat at Sea, our first cruise ever!
The first Latin Mass in nearly 50 years was celebrated at St. Mary’s Immaculate Church in St. Maries, Idaho on Sunday, Jan. 11. Father Dennis Gordon of the St. Joan of Arc Parish in Coeur d’Alene, Id. led the service.
Our good Lord has given me another day, another chance to improve on my path to becoming a disciplined disciple…something which I failed miserably at yesterday…God is good!
Father, a regular Sunday Traditional Latin Mass has begun at St. Barnabas Parish in O’fallon, MO, (population about 80,000) celebrated by Fr. Raymond Hager at 10:00am. This is the only TLM on Sundays in St. Charles County – a booming area next to St. Louis County and part of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Archbishop Robert Carlson fully supports the effort to make it happen. The first Mass on 01/04 was attended by over 200 persons. The schola for this Missa Cantata was a group of 8 – 10 seminarians from Kenrick Seminary. Also in attendance was a reporter from the St. Louis Review, the diocesan paper. Stay tuned for an update if and when an article is published. And Deo gratias.

Many and constant small joys
In April I am getting married in Mexico city to ‘Maru’ María Eugenia, in the old Rite. My priest, Fr. Van Constant, is coming down to say the Mass and marry us! Woohoo!! Pray for us please!!! As, I ended up out of work for a few months the last half of last year, and it is tight!! Thanks, and God bless!!
This past Sunday our son entered the Carmelite monastery in Wyoming. (Cue Mystic Monk coffee!). Even though we miss him terribly, the joy on his face was priceless. Prayers appreciated.
St. Thomas Aquinas in Charlotte, NC started having the TLM every Wednesday at 7PM with Confession, Adoration, and Rosary prior to that Mass. Fr. Jason Christian has been a huge blessing to the Parish, and has used the homily to explain aspects of the Mass and how they compare and contrast with the Ordinary Form. This has inspired my son to serve the altar again, and he is now discerning a vocation to the Priesthood.
Our Oratory-in-Formation in Washington, D.C., has been blessed with a postulant who entered last Friday. Please pray for him as he continues to discern his vocation, and keep offering that first Pater at the start of the Rosary that God may send us many holy priests.
Another, and most undeserved, blessing was my inclusion in a group of six men invested last night into Washington’s steadily growing Little Oratory. S. Philip Neri, ora pro nobis!
Last week’s scan showed my cancer to be stable, and I am quickly approaching diaconate ordination. Deo Gratias!
My 2 week old son, Simon Francis (after my Confirmation Saint, Francis of Assisi) is doing well as are my wife and our four other kids.
I’ve been accepted into the Aspirancy phase for the permanent diaconate and am moving toward the candidacy phase. God willing, I’ll be ordained in Aug., 2018.
St Ignatius’ Catholic church in Preston, Lancashire, had been closed, but has been saved. It has been transferred to the Syro-Malabar Catholic community in Preston.
I got married this past summer and I started medical school too.
Another month of bills survived, thanks to the Infant Jesus.
Jan. 22nd a Solemn High Mass for the Forgiveness of Sins (EF) will mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. To be followed by a Rosary Procession and Benediction (including the Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart). Thanks be to God.
Her name is Lucy. She is my grandbaby; five months old yesterday. A little angel.
I was able to afford the Baronius breviary which I long had my eye on. A bit of a flow change from divinumofficium.com (which I’m still glancing at now and then to confirm my understanding of the rubrics).
I’ve also been taking up serving at the altar with the FFSP in Los Angeles (hopefully our reverend host won’t mind the plug: http://www.fssp.la) at both High and Low Mass and will start training to be an MC once I have all of that mastered. The idea being we want to proliferate in our home parishes while Fr. Fryar FSSP continues to search for the permanent location for the FSSP Apostolate in the Archdiocese.
Blessed Junipero is being declared a saint this year. I have had a devotion to him since I was a little girl. I remember visiting the missions when I traveled with my aunt and uncle (and my aunt pinning a Kleenex my head before we entered the church).
Though sick, my wife is well and we are expecting our 2nd in August. The first little “saint-maker” too.
Jury duty cancelled, so I can participate in the Julian calendar Theophany event at the museum I work in.

It was just announced that Blessed Junipero Serra, the patron of Serra International and promoter of vocations is going to be canonized this September.
Another day that my eyes opened and I saw light, I stood and my legs held me up. I made coffee in my own little kitchen. And as I stood by the sink savoring that lovely aroma and taste I marveled that the Good GOD has allowed me to live another day to work out my salvation. And given me so much even after all I’ve done to hurt HIM. Deo Gratias!!!
A group of students at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota was able to bring the EF to campus shortly before Christmas, and hopefully again in Lent! And our new auxiliary bishop is slowly but surely “going Tridentine!” Deo gratias!

A prayer of thanksgiving to Our Lord for all the beautiful blessings he has bestowed. The news in this post is one smile after the other.
I won a philosophy essay contest and the scholarship that accompanies it.
1. GRAVITATIONAL PULL REPORT: At St. Benedict the Moor, Winston-Salem, NC, the pastor, Fr. Anthony Forte, has installed a new altar and now is saying the OF Mass ad orientem.
2. I have a good chance once again to spend the upcoming Holy Week and Easter at Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini, Rome, an FSSP church. I pray that the pastor will offer the Tenebrae again this year.
My son earned his Second Class Scout rank this evening.
Adding this TLM to the already long list. :D At last, all four of the diocese in Alberta have regular TLMs. My family and I haven’t attended yet, but when it is a little warmer for driving we will. So excited! Deo gratias!

Our youngest daughter, who suffered a TBI in a car accident at Thanksgiving, 2013, is making
a good recovery from her injuries. We are so thankful for the wonderful neuro-psychologist who oversaw her testing and worked with us on a new treatment plan. Her new meds have kicked in,
her new therapies are being implemented and the new year looks much more promising.
And though 2014 was very hard, many spiritual lessons were learned, for which we are most grateful.
Talk about good news! WOW! Today Pope Francis boldly reaffirmed Church teaching that all contraception is wrong, explaining that when Pope Paul VI issued the 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae, he got it right!
Pope Francis: “I think of Blessed Paul VI. In a moment of that challenge of the growth of populations, he had the strength to defend openness to life. He knew the difficulties that families experience, and that’s why in his encyclical, he expressed compassion for particular cases. And he taught professors to be particularly compassionate with particular cases. But he went further. He looked to the peoples beyond. He saw the lack and the problem that it could cause families in the future. Paul VI was courageous. He was a good pastor, and he warned his sheep about the wolves that were approaching, and from the heavens he blesses us today.”

I am nearly finished writing a new curriculum for the grade I have taught.
Hopeful that it contains what the children need to learn to help them love God.
