About this blog…
“This blog is like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” – Fr. Z

A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.
In view of the rapidly changing challenges I now face, I would like to add more $10/month subscribers. Will you please help?

“Band of Sisters” documentary about liberal women religious premiers
We start a new work week with some old fashioned dissent. And I mean old. Picture if you will the paradox of a visible but invisible group of women religious dissenters. Even as they stay in the public eye, because … Read More
National Catholic Reporter teams up with Ford Foundation backed entity to hide the truth about the Holy See’s ‘Doctrinal Assesment’ of the LCWR
Every year around Christmas and Easter, the usual hyenas emerge from the brush to worry at the Church’s heels. This year, as a little gift to the Christ Child, the National Catholic Reporter (aka Fishwrap) has teamed up with an … Read More
Protecting The Unborn: A ‘Pro-Life Position?
I checked the NCR this morning to see which of their writers would be the first out of the gate to instrumentalize the heinous killing of children in Connecticut to argue for tougher gun control laws. Would it be Michael … Read More

I have a dream …. Find a home for Roy!
In another post, I wrote about Sr. Maureen Fiedler’s Fishwrap column about Mr. Roy Bourgeois and the grave injustices done to him by the Vatican’s male oppressors and their Maryknoll minions. I was so moved by her piece, so disturbed … Read More

Sr. Fiedler’s spittle-flecked nutty over Mr. Bourgeois
Sr. Maureen Fiedler is one of our favorites at National catholic Fishwrap. This could be an great exercise for a fundamental theology class: count the errors. No… there may be too many to cover in a class period. Only someone like … Read More

McBrien is back, and venting for the Fishwrap
The National catholic Fishwrap has for many dark years offered columns by the not-yet-late Richard McBrien. His writings should usually be ignored, but this piece is such a good example of liberal whining and deception that it merits attention for … Read More

“Barack and Simone gazed at each other ….”
When the National catholic Fishwrap indulgences in its version of hagiography, the results aren’t pretty. Their latest liberal panegyric is an attempt to transmogrify Sr. Simone Campbell, Democrat party activist, bus rider, into a progressivist’s alternative to Bl. Theresa of … Read More
