Today is traditionally called Dominica in albis, the Sunday of the white garments which the newly baptized received on the Vigil of Easter. St. Augustine (+430) preaches about this day, and you can hear some of what he has to say in Latin and English (s. 260A). I also talk about the Pope’s book Jesus of Nazareth and about the Mass he celebrated today (last year – 2007) in St. Peter’s Square.

Mark: In programme 1 what was the title of the penultimate piece, that beautiful version of the Fiftieth Psalm; Have mercy on me O God, according to thy great mercy? I recognised it but missed the intro.

Mark, thats really kind of you. Its a well known piece, beautiful (apart from the blonde soprano; she makes my eardrum vibrate).
Habemus Papam, I think we have a problem! :c). When you mentioned programme 1, I took it to mean the first in the series, which was ‘The Gothic Revolution’. Having just watched that programme, and not having seen or heard any eardrum vibrating blonde soprano, I’m guessing it can’t be the one to which you were referring! Incidentally, the penultimate piece in that programme was ‘Viderunt Omnes – Organum for Christmas Day’.
I do remember seeing & hearing a mixed sex choir in the second programme ‘Palestrina and the Popes’, but alas have no recollection of the penultimate piece… and I’ve missed all the repeats of it too; although, you can catch it on that BBC iPlayer, where there are 6 days left to catch it.
