OTHER PONTIFICAL ACTS
VATICAN CITY, 7 OCT 2008 (VIS) – The Holy Father appointed Archbishop Raymond Leo Burke, prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, as president of the Commission for Advocates.
NA/…/BURKE
“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

Could someone explain what the Commission for Advocates is and how Msgr. Burke’s appointment as its president is so useful?
Archbishop Burke would make a marvelous prince of the Church! Tom
Makes ya wonder if His Holiness is grooming someone to succeed him…
So, what does that actually mean?
Anyone get this niggling suspicion that +Burke is being groomed for something..? ;)
I think we may be engaging in wishful thinking. No matter how fine a pope Archbishop Burke would be, I think an American would
be a hard sell. Tom
Trevor and Chris,
Great minds think alike! I too have a gut feeling that Abp.Burke is being made ready for even greater things… :-)
TJM, we know.. we know.. but let us have our little fantasies! =D
I disagree. I think right now, if G-d forbid his holiness were to move on to his reward, Burke would be an excellent choice, and one that makes sense. He is an american. Anyone in this country knows the church in american needs a shot in the arm
